Abstract: Absorbent article (20) having a containment assembly (22) comprising an absorbent core (28) between the top sheet (24) and the back sheet (26). The crotch region has a fluid storage capacity of 49%, pref. 41%, most pref. 23% of the total core ultimate storage capacity, and has a high flux liquid distribution material having a flux at 12.4 cm ranging from >0.075 g/cm2/sec to >0.15 g/cm2/sec. The core may comprise natural fibres such as wood pulp or cellulosic fibres, or synthetic fibres such as surfactant- or silica-treated fibres derived from polyolefins, polyacrylics, polyamides, polystyrenes, polyurethanes, etc.. The fibres may be chemically stiffened, twisted and curled. Alternatively, open-celled absorbent polymeric foam materials derived from HIPE-derived foams may be used or super absorbent polymers may be used.

Abstract: SE REFIERE A ESTRUCTURAS ABSORBENTES, QUE COMPRENDEN; A) UNA PRIMERA REGION PARA CAPTACION/DISTRIBUCION DE FLUIDOS QUE COMPRENDE MATERIALES QUE PUEDEN TENER UNA PRESION DE DESORCION CAPILAR RELATIVAMENTE ALTA, TAL COMO MATERIAL FIBROSO, UNA ESPUMA POLIMERICA Y SIMILARES. PRESENTANDO DICHA REGION UN FLUJO ACUMULATIVO DE MAS DE 0,075 g/cm²/seg A 12,4 cm DE ALTURA Y/O UN TIEMPO DE ESCURRIMIENTO MENOR A 120 seg A ESA ALTURA; Y B) UNA SEGUNDA REGION PARA ALMACENAMIENTO DE FLUIDOS QUE COMPRENDE MATERIALES, TALES COMO MATERIALES FORMADORES DE HIDROGEL,QUE EXHIBEN UNA PRESION DE ABSORCION CAPILAR SUFICIENTEMENTE ALTA, DE MODO QUE DRENE EFICIENTEMENTE LA PRIMERA REGION, DEBIENDO CUMPLIR DICHOS MATERIALES AL MENOS CON UNO DE LOS SIGUIENTES REQUISITOS: i) CAPACIDAD DE SORCION-ABSORCION CAPILAR A 35 cm (CSAC 35) DE POR LO MENOS 15 g/g; Y/O ii) CAPACIDAD DE SORCION-ABSORCION CAPILAR A 0 cm (CSAC 0) DE POR LO MENOS 15 g/g, Y EFICIENCIA DE SORCION-ABSORCION CAPILAR A 40 cm (CSAE 40) DE POR LO MENOS 55%; Y/O iii) ALTURA DE SORCION-ABSORCION CAPILAR, AL 50% DE SU CAPACIDAD Y A 0 cm DE ALTURA DE ABSORCION (CSAH 50), DE POR LO MENOS 35 cm. SE USAN COMO ESTRUCTURAS ABSORBENTES EN ARTICULOS ABSORBENTES, TALES COMO PANALES Y SIMILARES

Abstract: The present invention relates to absorbent articles suitable for absorbing and retaining aqueous body fluids. Absorbent articles of the present invention comprise a discontinuous, substantially fluid impervious backsheet and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet. The absorbent core comprises a plurality of core components which are removable, with access for removal provided by at least one discontinuity forming an opening in the backsheet. Once removed, other absorbent core components or layers of components may remain in the absorbent article. Also, additional absorbent core components or layers may be added through the opening in the backsheet. In a preferred embodiment the absorbent core comprises a plurality of components, including at least a front panel, a rear panel, and a center section. Each of the absorbent components may include layers of absorbent members. Upon saturation with bodily discharges certain components or members of the absorbent core may be removed from the absorbent article through the backsheet. New, unsaturated absorbent components or members may then be positioned in place of the removed saturated components or members, or, more preferably, upon removal of the saturated component or member, an additional unused component or member may remain in position for use.
