PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for enhancing the reliability of quality feedback in a wireless communications system. SOLUTION: The system and technique for communication involve transmitting a signal over a plurality of time periods, receiving a plurality of parameters each of which relates to the signal transmission during a different one of the time periods, filtering a first one of the parameters to generate a first filtered parameter, filtering a second one of the parameters as a function of the first filtered parameter to generate a second filtered parameter, and adjusting the signal as a function of the second filtered parameter. SOLUTION: A method and a system for providing signaling in a cellular telephone system providing broadcast services fully integrate broadcast services with the service provided by the cellular telephone system. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for transmitter re-initialization in a wireless communication system. SOLUTION: When there is a trouble produced in a communication link between a mobile station and a base station, the mobile station and an infrastructure prearrange with potential resumption base stations. The mobile station disables a transmitter during the resumption process. At recovery, the transmission power level of the transmitter is incremented for transmission of the pilot strength measurement message, until a hand-off direction message is received. Forward transmission is suspended in a period of a second part of a first frame in the selected pair of frames and in that of a first part of a second frame in the selected pair of frames, and a second part of a second frame in the selected pair of frames is transmitted at a power level determined by the increased forward link power control indices.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for evaluating a packet and a frame in a wireless communication system having a plurality of reverse-link channels including a burst-oriented transmission channel and a corresponding rate indicator channel in a natural generation manner.SOLUTION: A rate indicator channel is monitored, a most-likelihood decoder is used to decode the rate indicator channel, and likelihood is compared with a threshold to detect presence of a packet on the rate indicator channel (520) and on the basis of the presence and contents of the packet received on the rate indicator channel, validity of a frame on a burst-oriented channel is analyzed (530).

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for a time-scalable priority-based scheduler, wherein a flexible scheduling algorithm utilizing variable scheduling durations enables better system capacity utilization. SOLUTION: A rate request 408 is transmitted if data arrives in a buffer, data in the buffer exceeds a buffer depth, and sufficient power exists to transmit at the rate requested. A rate assignment 418 responsive to the rate request indicates a scheduled duration and a scheduled rate applicable for the scheduled duration. The scheduling period is an interval of time after which a scheduler makes a scheduling decision. The scheduling period is variable and the scheduled duration is variable.
