Abstract:
A method includes receiving, at a first wireless device from a second wireless device, a signal (SIG) unit including a length field and an aggregation field. The length field is interpreted as a number of symbols in response to determining that the aggregation field has a first value. The length field is interpreted as a number of bytes in response to determining that the aggregation field has a second value.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for communicating packets having a plurality of formats are described herein. In some aspects, a signal (SIG) field in the preamble of a packet may indicate whether an extension field, such as an extension SIG field or SIG-B field, is included in the packet. In another aspect, one or more detectors may be used to auto-detect packets formatted as one of at least two different formats based on a short training field (STF) of a received packet. In some aspects, along training field (LTF) in the preamble of a packet may indicate whether the payload is repetition coded.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to a technique for generating 40+40 MHz and 40+40+40+40 MHz transmission modes for IEEE 802.11 wireless communications systems using Very High Throughput (VHT) waveforms with application to Television White Space (TVWS) spectrum.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and/or devices are provided that permit data transmissions over unused television channels. An unused channel within a television broadcast frequency spectrum is first identified. A downclocked waveform (for data transmission) is then generated by applying a factor to a clock that causes a waveform bandwidth to be reduced from a first bandwidth to a second bandwidth, wherein the second bandwidth of the downclocked waveform is less than a channel bandwidth for the identified unused channel. The downclocked waveform may then be configured so that it coexists with a larger waveform having a third bandwidth that is greater than the channel bandwidth. The downclocked waveform is then wirelessly transmitted from the transmitter device over the identified unused channel.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to techniques for supporting television white space (TVWS) communication. In an aspect of the present disclosure, a low-rate TVWS enabler (Mode II wireless communication device) may provide initial enablement for all Mode I devices (e.g., access points and user terminals), as well as it may transmit a contact verification signal (CVS) on a regular basis to keep the Mode I devices enabled for the TVWS communication.

Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to techniques that may be used to help control aspects of beamforming by a beamformee. According to certain aspects, a beamformee may be able to signal, to a beamformer, a maximum number of transmit spatial streams to use for single-user beamformed transmissions.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to a technique for communicating Channel State Information (CSI) feedback. In some aspects, the CSI feedback is communicated in a very high throughput (VHT) wireless communications system.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to a technique for power saving at mobile stations in Very High Throughput (VHT) systems using signal field bits of a preamble with a limited transmission overhead. The present disclosure proposes a method of indicating to a destination through a preamble cyclic redundancy check (CRC) checksum that the destination may be the intended destination of a transmission packet. The present disclosure also proposes a method of indicating to a destination through a preamble CRC that the destination may not be the intended destination of a transmission packet. In this case, decoding of the received packet can be terminated in order to save power at a receiving device.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to techniques for achieving adaptive channel state information (CSI) feedback rate in multi-user communication systems. A rate by which CSI feedback can be transmitted from each user station of a wireless system to a serving access point may be adjusted based on evolution of a channel between that user station and the access point.
