Abstract: PURPOSE:To ensure locking of a hub, on which a magnetic tape is wound, in a tape cassette. CONSTITUTION:Tooth faces of ratchets 24a and 25a which are provided on hubs 24 and 25 having a magnetic tape T wound on them and with which lock pawls 27a and 27b of a hub lock 26 are made to engage, are so formed that a tangent line (a) to the dedendum circle R of the ratchets 24a and 25a forms an acute angle. Thereby a distance of movement of the lock pawls 27a and 27b getting over the ratchets 24a and 25a is increased and unnecessary slip-off of the lock pawls 27a and 27b is prevented.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the tape cassette having excellent vibration attenuation characteristic and high antistatic effect. CONSTITUTION:The part (support area) of a cassette housing 1 in contact with a tape driving device is formed as a carbon fiber packed part 6 (carbon fibers are packed at 20wt.% into an ABS resin). As a result, rigidity is enhanced by packing of the carbon fibers and, therefore, the vibrations transmitted from the outside are effectively attenuated and there is no adverse influence on a tape. Electric resistance is lowered by packing the carbon fibers and, therefore, electrification is hardly generated. Even if triboelectrification is generated at the time of using in low humidity environment, the electrified charges are rapidly escaped to the tape driving device side and, therefore, the pickup of the dust by the electrification and discharge noise, etc., are effectively prevented.

The distance H from the intersected point P1 to an intersected point P3 is >=0.2mm (in the case of the cassette for offset printing) or >=0.05mm (in the case of the cassette for thermal transfer printing). The tape cassette with which the generation of the unequal printing at the outer peripheral end of the surface of the cassette half is substantially prevented by this printing relief step part 2 and which has the excellent touch is obtd.

In this case, the pressure pad 11 is constituted of a rotary body which is ratatable in company with the running of the magnetic tape.

For instance, a plate member 40 molded by the cellulose system resin is stuck on the rear surface of the guide block 15. Thus, the vibration when the cassette is used is reduced by the excellent vibration attenuation characteristic of the cellulose system resin, and the modulation noise is suppressed.

By this wall 28, the sagged tape 11 is prevented from rolling in between the side wall of the casing of cassette 1 and the pin 18, then the tape cassette provided with improved reliability is obtained.

The felt of the first layer 10a and the felt of the second layer 10b are adhered with an adhesive 10c using an industrial adhesive generally used to form the head pad 10 having a two-layer structure of 1.8mm thickness. In this method, the elastic modulus of the obtd. head pad 10 having a two-layer structure is lower than that of a single layer structure of a wool felt or rabbit felt so that the pad can be stably press fitted to a magnetic tape.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve a vibration attenuating property by forming a pair of case members into a two-layered structure consisting of an outside layer of a high-modulus material and an inside layer of a low-modulus material, thereby forming a restraining type vibration damping structure. CONSTITUTION:This case 1 can be integrated as a pair of the case members 2, 3 are joined by ultrasonic welding and are further fastened by means of bolts 9 and nuts 10. The case is made into the restraining type vibration damping structure having the inside layer B consisting of the low-modulus material and the outside layer A consisting of the high-modulus material. Then, the vibrations generated in the case 1 are converted to shearing strain energy by the shearing strain generated in the inside layer B which is an intermediate layer, by which the vibrations are attenuated. The members 2, 3 are molded of the two-layered structure of synthetic resins and, therefore, the warpage deformation at the time of the molding increases and a clearance is liable to arise in joint surfaces 5. The surfaces 5 are joined over the entire area, by which the influence of the warpage is prevented and a tape cassette having high dimensional accuracy is obtd.
