Abstract: PURPOSE:To discriminate which of plural video signals is selected by displaying only a selected video signal as a moving picture and displaying other video signal as a still picture. CONSTITUTION:A video memory 14 has each storage area corresponding to each window on a display pattern of a display device 20 and each video signal is written from an external video signal generating source 30. When the operator operates an instruction input device 12 to select, e.g., a video tape recorder 31, a control circuit 11 uses a video signal selection switch 16 to select a video signal from the video tape recorder 31 and a video signal from the video tape recorder 31 is written in a video memory 14 and read therefrom, then a moving picture by the video signal from the video tape recorder 31 is displayed on a prescribed window on a screen and a black level or a preset picture is displayed on other window. Thus, the identification of which video signal generating source is selected is facilitated.
