Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve productivity, to enhance dimensional accuracy and to enhance resolution of a display image, by integrally molding a pillar with a substrate, and forming a spacer. CONSTITUTION: A recessed part, where a pillar is provided, is formed by precision work by the prescribed dimension in a lower mold, to inject fused glass pressurized by an upper mold, so as to integrally mold a base plate 24 and a pillar 10. Next in a fluorescent screen panel 14, R, G, B fluorescent materials of prescribed pattern and black stripe 28 are formed by a prescribed process in a surface formed with the pillar 10 of the substrate 24, and a separately prepared back panel 16 is connected to seal between both the panels vacuumized, and to prepare an FED. In this way, decrease of dimensional accuracy when molded the pillar 10 by a screen printing method and complicated work are eliminated, also to accurately form the pillar 10, further by forming into a small diameter, to enable density of each fluorescent material stripe to enhance, and to enable resolution of the FED to improve.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To form a uniform phosphor screen without deteriorating the vacuum degree in a display by forming a fine-stripe phosphor at high precision without causing color mixing, to provide a high quality color phosphor screen. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of transparent electrodes corresponding to each color phosphor, are provided on the inner surface of a phosphor panel, and the phosphor is preferentially applied and formed on each of the transparent electrodes, to form a color phosphor screen. After a plurality of transparent electrodes 1 (1B, 1G, 1R) corresponding to each color phosphor are formed on the inner surface of a phosphor panel 10, zero voltage or reverse bias voltage to the electrode 1G on which the phosphor is applied, is impressed on the electrodes 1B, 1R, on which no phosphor is applied, in a water-soluble or water- insoluble electrodeposition liquid.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration of image quality by providing a spacer as a vacuum pressure holding structure of a flat display, the spacer being formed by application of glass paste onto a phosphor-side substrate by screen printing method. CONSTITUTION:A spacer 7 is provided as a vacuum pressure holding structure, the spacer 7 being formed by repeated application of glass paste by screen printing method between a cathode-side substrate 1 on which a cathode line 2 is provided and a phosphor-side substrate 5 on which phosphor stripes 6 are provided. Frit material dispersed in a binder such as ethyl cellulose is used as the glass paste. Therefore, the spacer 7 provides reduced gas emissions and is stable in a vacuum and can withstand any high-temperature treatment. Since the height and width of the spacer 7 can be independently determined, deterioration of image quality can be prevented when the picture elements of the flat display are arranged with fine pitches.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make only the prescribed phosphor stripe emit light even when positioning between a gate electrode line and the phosphor stripe is deviated, by suppressing the spread of an electronic beam without excuting the high- voltage switching of a phosphor stripe. CONSTITUTION:In a flat display consisting of a cathode line 2 provided with a field release type cathode, the gate electrode line 4 for drawing out an electron from the cathode and an anode provided with the phosphor stripe 6 arranged on the gate electrode line 4 and the cathode line 2 and the gate electrode line 4 constitute a matrix, a prescribed potential is applied to the gate electrode line 4 selected for making the prescribed phosphor stripe 6 emit light and the potential so that the electron beam from the area of the selected gate electrode line converges to the prescribed phosphor stripe 6 by a lens effect and a deflection effect applied to a nonselected gate electrode line 4 adjacent to the selected gate electrode line 4.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the screen which generates a screen effect only in the parts made incident with light and maintains the other parts in a transparent state by disposing a photoconductive layer between a pair of transparent electrodes, thereby constituting the screen. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal 15 and the photoconductive layer 13 formed of a photoconductive material are disposed between a pair of the transparent electrodes 12 and 16 in the state of interposing the transparent electrode 14 therebetween. The photoconductive layer 13 consisting of amorphous silicon has the lower electric resistance in the part made incident with the light and, therefore, the potential difference between the transparent electrode 12 and the transparent electrode 14 of this part decreases. Since the transparent electrode 12 and the transparent electrode 16 are at the same potential, the potential between the transparent electrode 14 and the transparent electrode 16 decreases as well. Then, the liquid crystal arrangement of the liquid crystal layer 16 in this part is disturbed and a translucent state is attained. This part functions as the screen. Consequently, video projecting light L is projected as a video in the liquid crystal layer 15 and this video is visible from the glass of the glass substrate 17.

By applying necessary voltages to the parallel electrode 3a of an electrode 3 synchronously with a vertical scanning period to form a deflecting field proceeding to an electrode body structure (7) side, vertical scanning of the electron beam b is performed. Moreover, the thus vertically deflected electron beam b, by applying necessary voltage to the counter electrode 4 to cooperate with the electrode 3, the electron beam b is made to proceed toward a fluorescent screen 2.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the number of X electrodes by delta-lining up picture element trio in an X-Y matrix modulation device, and providing X electrodes commonly to picture elements of the neighboring upper two lines on the neighboring lines in order. CONSTITUTION:On a fluorescent screen in which picture elements with phosphors of blue B, green G, and red R colors respectively are lined up plurally, electrons emitted from a cathode arranged commonly to the picture elements are projected through an X-Y matrix device 6. The picture element trio are in a delta-lining- up in the matrix composition, and an even picture quality can be obtained. Electrons are provided to each line of the matrix device 6 and a Y electrode group 6V is formed. The electrode group 6H in the X direction is formed of a group of electrodes combining commonly the picture elements on two lines on the neighboring lines. As a result, the number of X electrodes can be reduced, the area of the picture elements can be increased responding to the reduction of the X electrodes, and a bright picture image can be obtained.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a large area insulation layer by laminating and arranging a plurality of unbaked photosensitive glass thin film elements having a punched electron beam transmission hole via the selection of the positional relationship of each element or the edge shape thereof, and integrating the elements after the arrangement thereof in a plane form and a baking process. CONSTITUTION:An electron beam transmission hole Hi is punched through a plurality of unbaked photosensitive glass elements and a plurality of un-baked photosensitive glass thin film elements 23 are laminated and arranged in a plane form. The edges 23a of the corresponding sides of the laminated elements 23 are sloped to each other having an acute or obtuse angle for a lamination butt surface 23b. The adjacent edges 23a of the elements 23 in a plane form are abutted to each other via the aforesaid obtuse angle at one side and the acute angle at the other side. According to the aforesaid construction, an insulation layer obtained through jointing and baking as a whole comes to have a large junction area among each of the elements 23 and a large area insulation layer of high mechanical strength. Consequently, it is possible to obtain a display device having a large area with a good yield.
