Abstract: An effective pixel area calculating circuit (11) detects position information indicating the position of a target pixel in a frame. A lacking pixel creating circuit (12) determines the class of the target pixel from a plurality of classes in accordance with the position information, then selects a plurality of pixels from an input image signal as a prediction tap, and carries out arithmetic processing based on conversion data obtained in advance by learning for each class and the prediction tap, thus outputting an output image signal of higher quality than the input image signal.

Abstract: A region of a background image, a region of a moving object image, and a region having a mixed image are identified. A mixture ratio calculation bloc k (103) extracts pixel data of peripheral portion of a frame around the target pixel of the target frame of image data as a background pixel data corresponding to a background object, extracts the target pixel data of the target pixel contained in the target frame, generates a plurality of relationship equations indicating the relationship between the target pixel data and the background pixel data, and calculates a mixture ratio of the mixture state of the object according to the relationship equations. A regio n identification block (104) substitutes the calculated mixture ratio in the relationship equations, calculates a predicted error, and identifies the region to which the target pixel belongs as a covered background region, an uncovered background region, a foreground region, or a background region. Th e present invention can be applied to an image processing apparatus.

The mixture ratio determination block (403) sets a mixture ratio and a motion vector in accordance with regi on information indicating to which of the foreground region, the background region, the covered background region, and the uncovered background region, a pixel belongs. The present invention can be applied to an image processing apparatus.

Abstract: An area where mixture is present can be detected. An object extracting unit (251) extracts a foreground object from an input image and generates an area specific object composed of the image object of the foreground and a value representing that the pixel is in the background area. A motion compensation unit (252) carries out motion compensation of the area specific object on th e basis of the supplied motion vector and its position information. A subtraction unit (254) subtracts the pixel value of a pixel in the corresponding position in the foreground area of the area specific object of frame #n-1 supplied from a frame memory (253) from the pixel value of a pixe l in the foreground area of the area specific object of frame #n supplied from the object extracting unit (251) so as to determine the frame difference of the pixels in the foreground area. A threshold processing unit (255) extract s a mixture area according to the frame difference. The invention can be appli ed to a signal processor for processing an image.

Abstract: The present invention makes it possible to process at high speed the foreground component image and the background component image of picked up images on a network platform. A client computer 27 outputs information specifying image data desired to separate to a separation server 11. The separation server 11 obtains the specified image data from a storage server 18 and outputs it to a motion detecting server 12 to perform motion detection processing. Thereafter, the image data, motion vector and positional information are output to an area specifying server 13. The area specifying server 13 generates area information of the image data and outputs the area information to a mixture ratio calculating server 14 in addition to the image data, the motion vector and the positional information. The mixture ratio calculating server 14 calculates a mixture ratio on the basis of the image data, the motion vector, the positional information and the area information, and a foreground/background image separation server 15 separates foreground and background of the input image on the basis of such information. The present invention may be employed in a business model for image processing.

The mixture-ratio determining portion 403 sets a mixture ratio and a motion vector according to area information indicating to which of a foreground area, a background area, the covered background area, or the uncovered background area a designated pixel belongs. The present invention can be applied to image processing apparatuses.
