PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet offset printer where higher image quality is obtained by reducing artifacts at the leading edge and the trailing edge of a medium sheet.SOLUTION: An inkjet offset printer includes an imaging drum and a transfix roller 19 skewed with respect to and defining a continuously applied or an uninterrupted nip with the imaging drum to reduce torque disturbances and media wrinkling issues. Acoustic and physical disturbances resulting from a sheet of recording medium 49 entering and leaving the nip 18 are reduced or eliminated.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for frequently calibrating an edge sensor at a sufficient accuracy level. SOLUTION: A start begins by carrying medium paper having a front edge, a rear edge and a measuring edge along a medium passage. Next, after the front edge of the paper passes through a fixed reference, the advance motion of the paper is stopped. Afterwards, the paper is moved to the medium passage so as to cross at least one edge sensor by using a paper actuator. Next, an actual position of the paper actuator and an output of at least the one edge sensor are recorded. A calibration factor is finally calculated based on the actual position of the paper actuator and the output of at least one edge sensor. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet positioning system and a method corresponding to the occurrence of a variation in the driving ratio and sheet positioning in progress. SOLUTION: Sheet driving nips 17A and 17B for controlling a sheet trajectory are formed between friction sheet driving rollers 15A and 15B and undriven idler rollers 16A and 16B. The undriven idler rollers 16A and 16B have a nonslip rotational engaging state with a sheet in the sheet driving nips 17A and 17B, and generate rotation corresponding to the sheet trajectory. The undriven idler rollers have rotary encoders 110A and 110B connected to these rollers, and generate an encoder electric signal corresponding to rotation in the undriven idler rollers 16A and 16B. Its encoder electric signal is supplied to a control system 100, to control a driving system for driving the friction sheet driving rollers 15A and 15B. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calibrate a positional sensor to be used for positioning of a sheet to be fed. SOLUTION: Calibration is carried out by repeating to detect a sheet position at D3 by a sensor 134 at the time of carrying a sheet 11 from D2 to D3 by giving an optional correction value (c) and finding the correction value (c) at the time when this detection position converges to a normal position about each of the detection positions along a sensor 132. Thereafter, feeding of the sheet 11 is corrected by giving the correction value (c) in accordance with a position of the sheet 11 detected at the time when the sheet is at D2.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce or eliminate registration errors in a printing system that carries a plurality of medium sheets placed on a belt.SOLUTION: The system includes steps for identifying a first displacement amount of a sheet carrying device and a second displacement amount of the sheet carrying device when the sheet carrying device carries a medium sheet passing through first and second printheads, respectively, for the image processing of a predetermined location of the medium sheet. A time for operating the second printhead is adjusted based on a difference between a first sheet carrying device offset and a second sheet carrying device offset to provide color registration between ink drops of the first printhead and second printhead on the medium sheet.
