Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein dynamic errors are not corrected by alignment of print heads to account for thermal expansion and contraction of the print heads. SOLUTION: A printing system includes: a first roll; a second roll; a first print head; a second print head positioned adjacent to a process path and axially spaced from the first print head along an in-track axis of the process path; and a processor identifying a first roll error (R e ) associated with the first roll, identifying a second R e associated with the second roll, characterizing the cross-process movement of a web moving along the in-track axis of the process path by calculating the cross-process web motion from a first roll error and a second roll error, controlling the cross-process position of the first print head on the basis of the calculated cross-process web motion, and also controlling the cross-process position of the second print head on the basis of the calculated cross-process web motion. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet printer using phase-change ink printing on continuous web. SOLUTION: A web W which is wound around a spool 10 is fed to a printing section 20 along a path (in the processing direction P) through a roller 12 or the like located on the downstream side. The phase-change ink is loaded on the web W by using printing heads 21A to 21D (they may be one piece) in the printing section 20. A pre-heater 18 which pre-heats the web W to a specified pre-heating temperature is located between the spool 10 and the printing section 20. A means for keeping the temperature of the web W within a specified ink receiving temperature zone, e.g., backing materials 24A to 24D are located in the printing section 20. The temperature of the web W in the printing section 20 can be controlled so that each color ink sequential loading by the printing heads 21A to 21D can favorably be performed. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an orifice and a vacuum platen from being clogged with debris infiltrated into the periphery of a printing head. SOLUTION: Openings 60, 64 with different shapes are provided to an endless belt, which can carry a medium having its width narrower than the span size of from edge 54 to edge 58, to form an escort belt 50. The openings are formed by arranging a plurality of openings 60 in the longitudinal direction of the belt in the vicinity of the edge 54 and by dispersedly arranging a plurality of openings 64 between the edge 58 and the openings 60. The openings 60 are formed in a position where a part of the openings is covered by the edge of the medium sucked to the endless belt by evacuation. Thus, while sucking the medium to the belt 50 by the evacuation via the openings 64, a particulate material such as the debris or the like separated from the medium can be discharged by the evacuation via the openings 60. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink feeding pipeline assembly for carrying ink to a pair of print heads. SOLUTION: The ink feeding pipeline assembly includes a first plurality of conduits, each conduit having a first end and a second end, a second plurality of conduits, each conduit having a first end and a second end, and a heater having a first side and a second side, the first plurality of conduits being coupled to the first side of the heater and the second plurality of conduits being coupled to the second side of the heater so the heater generates heat for ink being carried between the first and the second ends of the first plurality and the second plurality of conduits. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of maintaining the image forming member of an image forming device which can be used for transferring images to a substrate. SOLUTION: The method includes the application of a releasing agent to the image forming member 102 by an applicator 108, the measurement of the releasing agent and formation of a film on the image forming member 102, the formation of an image on the image forming member 102, the transfer of the image to the substrate, the storage of the releasing agent in a reservoir 122 far away from the applicator 108 and the transport of the stored releasing agent to the applicator 108 from the reservoir 122.
