The method comprises providing composite particles made by a process of emulsion aggregation, the composite particles comprising at least one thermoplastic polymer and at least one carbon particle material. A composite feed material is formed for fused deposition modeling from the composite particles. The composite feed material is in a form selected from a filament and a paste.

    Abstract: An enzymatic polymerization method of covalently linking a colorant to a polyester to produce a colorant-polyester compound, the method including the steps of: (a) providing a reaction solution comprised of an ester monomer, especially a lactone, a colorant having or functionalized to have a hydroxyl group, and an enzymatic catalyst; (b) reacting the ester monomer and the colorant using the enzymatic catalyst to produce a polymeric product, wherein the polymeric product includes a colorant-polyester compound; and (c) separating the polymeric product from the reaction solution. A colorant-polyester compound includes a colorant covalently linked to a polyester. The ester monomer can be a cyclic lactone such as ambrettolide of exaltolide.

    Abstract: A method of making particles suitable for use as toners includes forming a mixture of sulfonated polyester resin, a colorant dispersion and optionally a wax dispersion, homogenizing the mixture, adding a coagulant to the mixture to aggregate the mixture to form aggregated particles, and coalescing the aggregated particles to form coalesced particles. In the method, when a predetermined average particle size is achieved during th e aggregation and/or coalescing step, a complexing agent that complexes with ions of the coagulant is added in an amount effective to substantially halt any further particle growth. Th e complexing agent is believed to halt further growth by complexing with free coagulant ions still in the solution.
