    Abstract: A method and apparatus using ion projection to form a tri-level latent image on a charge retentive surface. The tri-level image which comprises two image areas and a background area is utilized for highlight imaging. An ion projection apparatus 25 includes a plurality of control electrodes 68, and switch means 84 are used to selectively apply one of three different voltages to individual control electrodes to form the tri-level image.

    Abstract: A high speed digital ionographic printer having a rotatable charge receptor, an ion source with ion discharge slot opposite the charge receptor, a cylindrical screen about the ion source composed of a conductive substrate with tiny holes and a photoconductive cover layer, parts of the screen riding against the charge receptor so that the screen rotates at the same velocity as the charge receptor, a screen charge corotron, and a laser writing beam which is scanned line by line across the moving screen to write latent electrostatic images thereon which thereafter modulate the flow of ions through the slot in accordance with the latent electrostatic image written on the screen.

    Abstract: A piezographic imaging process includes the use of a composite photoreceptor structure that includes a piezoactive layer that enables Xerographic imaging without corona charge/transfer subsystems. Flexure of the photoreceptor structure creates electric fields sufficient for the creation of developable latent electrostatic image patterns. Flexure of the photoreceptor structure following development generates an electric field for transfer of toner images onto paper.
