Ein Filterelement für Fluide, insbesondere für Hydraulikflüssigkeit, bestehend aus mindestens einem faltbaren Filtermantel (10) mit mindestens einer Filterlage (18, 20, 22, 24), der sich zwischen zwei Endkappen (26, 32) erstreckt, ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass für eine bereichsweise Änderung der Dicke des Filtermantels (10) sich die Höhe (h 1 ) jeweiliger Filterfalten (12, 44) von einer Endkappe (26) zur anderen Endkappe (32) hin vergrößert oder dass unter Beibehalten der Filterfaltenhöhe (h 1 ) sich der Außendurchmesser (40) des Filtermantels (10) in Richtung auf eine der Endkappen (26, 32) verändert.

Systems are provided for fabricating a plurality of possible pleat packs used in the formation of circumferentially pleated filter sleeves comprising a substantially horizontal contact surface, a pleating machine having cutting structure, operatively positioned proximate the substantially horizontal contact plane, for delivering continuous upstanding pleat packs of a predetermined pleat formation to the horizontal contact surface, structure for guiding the upstanding pleat packs received from the pleating machine into a flattened condition, structure for securing the pleat packs in the flattened condition and structure for forming the flattened pleat packs into a predetermined length for subsequent formation into sleeves of circumferential pleats. Methods for fabricating a plurality of possible pleat packs used in the formation of circumferentially pleated filter sleeves are also provided.

The present invention relates to a novel filter element having a septum with a staged pleating that repeats a pleating sequence having a major (longest) pleat, a minor (shortest) pleat and at least one intermediate pleat therebetween. The intermediate pleat(s) have pleat heights that are evenly distributed within the range of pleat heights bounded by the pleat height of the minor pleat and the pleat height of the major pleat. In two particular embodiments of the invention, the pleat height ratios of the major, intermediate and minor pleats are 3:2:1 and 4:3:2:1. In an filter element, the pleated septum may be held between an inner core and an outer guard. The tip of the major pleat in each pleating sequence may be in contact with the inner core of the filter element. The septum may also include drainage layers on upstream and downstream of the filter material layer.

A cartridge filter device having high filtration efficiency, having a long filter life, and capable of being produced at low cost. An out-in-pass-type pleated cartridge filter device has a filtration material, a core, a sleeve, and two end caps (upper and lower lid sections). In a filter material cross-section orthogonal to pleat folding, there are one mountain folding line (a), two valley folding lines (b) on both sides of the one mountain folding line, and two mountain folding lines (c) on both sides of the two valley folding lines. Thus the cartridge filter device includes a letter W-shaped section where there are one low mountain section on the sleeve side, two valley sections on the core side, on both sides of the one mountain section, and two high mountain sections on the sleeve side, on both sides of the two valley sections. ® KIPO & WIPO 2007

A pleated filter cartridge includes a pleated filter formed of a filter base having folds that repeatedly form peak portions and valley portions, the pleated filter having a shape of a cylinder whose axial direction is a ridge line direction of the folds, and lid portions disposed on an upper bottom and a lower bottom of the pleated filter. Reinforcing members whose top and bottom are fixed in the lid portions are provided in the valley portions viewed from the outside of the shape of the cylinder.

The invention features a filtration segment having a top seal, a bottom seal and a primary filter core and the method of filtering with the design of the filtration segment. The primary filter core is operatively coupled to at least one opening which is located either on the top seal or on the bottom seal. The filtration segment also includes one or more interior filters surrounding the primary filter core. Each interior filter includes a filter material surrounding a secondary core which is operatively coupled to at least one opening which is located either on the top seal or on the bottom seal. Each filter may optionally include a retaining medium enclosing the filter material. The filtration segment has one or more layers of an exterior filter media which operatively surround the interior filters and are operatively coupled to the top seal and the bottom seal.

A pleated filter element includes a composite depth filter medium formed into a plurality of pleats. The composite depth filter medium includes a plurality of depth filter media layers. Each of the plurality of depth filter media layers includes adsorber particulate matter. Each of the plurality of depth filter media layers may have a thickness less than about 1300 microns. The plurality of depth filter media layers may have at least 50% by weight of adsorber particulate matter.

A scaling tool for replicating filtration characteristics of a large-scale filtration device, the scaling tool comprising a housing having a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet, and a filter receiving region in fluid communication with the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet and configured to contain a membrane comprising one or more pleats, the filter receiving region being defined by a rigid wall framework configured to hold the one or more pleats of the membrane and compress the pleats in an amount effective to replicate the filtration performance of the large-scale filtration device. Also disclosed is a methodology for configuring a filter receiving region in a scaling tool.
