Abstract:
An embossing apparatus for applying an embossing pattern to a wrapper for a smoking article, the embossing apparatus configured so as to act to at least partially minimise the reduction, in at least one direction, in the tensile strength of the wrapper resulting from the application of said embossing pattern.
Abstract:
An embossing and laminating machine is described comprising a first embossing cylinder (3) with a surface provided with a first set of protuberances (P3), a second embossing cylinder (5) with a surface provided with a second set of protuberances (P5), the said two embossing cylinders forming a nip, and a first and a second pressure roller (7, 9) interacting with the first and the second embossing cylinder (3, 5) respectively; and in which the protuberances of the said first and the said second sets (P3, P5) are made in such a way that in the said nip some of the protuberances of the first set (P3) coincide with some protuberances of the second set (P5), while other protuberances of the first set are out of phase with corresponding protuberances of the second set. In order to reduce wear, the two embossing cylinders have different diameters.
Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for manufacture a double-sided three dimensional embossed web is provided. A web (15) is led through the nip between an embossing roller (18) and a pressure roller (19). The web (15) is preferably in a non-cured state and may be a paper or a plast web. If a pressure roller (19) having a smooth and hard surface is used, it has surprisingly created the effect of a double-sided three dimensional embossing. Such double-sided embossing gives the web a good hand and feel and a good drapability thereby making it suitable for manufacturing cloth, curtains, diapers and other products which should feel soft and pleasant and which should have a good drapability to be compared with that of knitwear and textiles. The embossed web would occur with the embossing or impressions (24) provided on two surfaces as a mirror image around a plane of symmetry (23) passing through the middle of the web (15). In the same way raised areas (26) would be opposed by raised areas (26).
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an embossing machine for a sheet material capable of simplifying and making an interchanging and adjusting operation of an embossing roll high speed. SOLUTION: The embossing machine 1 for the sheet material is equipped with at least two of the embossing rolls 4a, 4b, the end part 6a, 6b of the embossing rolls 4a, 4b are installed as rotatable in the side panel of the embossing machine 1. Each of the side panels is divided to fixed parts 2, 2' and at least one movable part 23. The end parts 6a, 6b of the embossing rolls 4a, 4b are installed inside of a supporting base 7 fixed as demountable to a seat formed in fixed parts 2, 2' of the side panel of the embossing machine 1 or in a movable part 23 of the side panel. By this, when the movable part 23 of the side panel is transferred to the fixed parts 2, 2' of the side panel, a space for dismantling at least a part of the supporting base 7 is made. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an embossing apparatus generating no unstable moment between a drive embossing roller and a driven embossing roller. SOLUTION: A sheet material (2) is supplied between first and second embossing rollers (3, 4) which are respectively rotated in opposite directions around first and second embossing rollers (3, 4) around first and second axis cores (6, 7) defining a certain plane. One (4) of the embossing rollers (3, 4) receives a compression force facing the other embossing roller (3) during use. At least one of the rotation axis cores (6, 7) is vibrated around a virtual hinge (C) or an instantaneous rotation center. The virtual hinge (C) or the instantaneous rotation center can be moved according to a displacement of an acting point A of a reaction force (R) along a contact pitch line (8) between the embossing rollers (3, 4) on a plane defined by the rotary axis cores (6, 7).
