Embodiments of the present disclosure include flame retardant composites, flame retardant nylon fibers, flame retardant nylon fiber carpets, methods of making each, and the like.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a washable multi-component magnetic floor mat. The floor mat contains a textile component (100) and a base component (200). The textile component (100) and the base component (200) are attached to one another by magnetic attraction. The magnetic attraction is provided by incorporation of magnetic particles in both the textile (100) and base (200) components. The textile component (100) is designed to be soiled, washed, and reused, thereby providing ideal end-use applications in areas such as building entryways. The present invention eliminates the need to wash the base component (200) of the floor mat which results in environmental, cost and labor conservation. Alignment and deployment of the textile component (100) with the base component (200) in an efficient manner is also described herein.
Abstract:
The treatment of textile articles, such as sleeves made of mineral fibers of the type that are used with automotive exhaust system components, by impregnating the textile articles with treatment compositions of various formulations including fluoropolymers and/or mixtures of fluoropolymers with co-resins, followed by heat treatment to cure the compositions, thereby providing protection against impact damage to the sleeve. The treatment serves to impart enhanced resistance to damage of the sleeve by holding the overall fibrous structure of the sleeve together during impact such as by stone impingement, even if underlying fibers themselves are broken or damaged.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a fire barrier, in particular a fire barrier for use with railway carriages comprising a first layer comprising synthetic fiber insulating material and a second layer comprising an intumescent material. The fire barrier provided herein is intended to be placed within, under, or on top of the floor of a train carriage so that in the event of a fire, for example, due to spillages or derailment, the carriage is insulated from fire for as long as possible. The barrier is lightweight and therefore can be retro-fitted or used to replace fire barriers in existing train carriages to maximise weight savings.

Abstract:
The invention concerns a novel binder system and its use for consolidating textile fabrics, as well as to products containing such consolidated textile fabrics. The materials according to the invention are suitable for the manufacture of reinforcing inserts, optionally in combination with at least one further textile fabric, for coated sarking membranes, roofing and waterproofing sheets, as textile backings or textile reinforcement in flooring, in particular in fitted carpets and PVC flooring, or in facers in wall coatings both in the interior and exterior of buildings, as well as in furniture.
