Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a steel cord for reinforcing a rubber product, which exhibits good rubber penetration, has a low load elongation, and has two-layer twisted structure or a three-layer twisted structure. SOLUTION: The steel cord is produced as follows. The whole of strands 11 of the center layer in a bundle-twisted two-layer structure (or an intermediate layer in a three-layer structure) have two-dimensional wave-shaped forms having small pitches, and the strands 11 are nearly parallel to the cord axis and nearly parallelly contact with each other. Parts at which a difference between an apparent twisting angle α and a twisting angle (a cord twisting angle β) of the strand of an outer layer is large, are partially present in discontinuous arrangement in the cord longitudinal direction, and the apparent twisting angle α and the cord twisting angle β at nearly parallel part satisfies the relation of 1.5°≤α-β≤4.5°. Abstract:
A steel cord (20, 30) has two ends and comprises steel filaments (32). At least some of the steel filaments (32) are twisted along the length of the steel cord (20, 30) - except for a local region (26, I) at at least one of the two ends - with a cord lay length L c . The steel cord (20, 30) is additionally cold twisted in said local region (26, I) so that locally the at least some of the steel filaments (32) have a lay length that is less than 60% of the cord lay length L c in order to avoid flare / fraying and to facilitate further processing. A corresponding method is disclosed, too.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A method of stranding elongated elements into a strand of reverse twists according to the invention is based on that, that a bundle of elements is inserted into a winding flyer (7), producing the first twist in the bundle and winding the bundle on a drum (9) which acts as an accumulator. Simultaneously, the bundle is unwound from the drum (9) by means of an unwinding flyer (13), producing the second twist in the bundle. Next, the bundle is pulled out of the unwinding flyer (13). Both flyers (7, 13) and the drum (9) have a common axis (O) of rotation and rotate in the same direction. A repeating period of stranding the bundle of elements consists of at least two successive phases of twisting. A length of the bundle twisted in one phase by the winding flyer (7) is next twisted in another phase by the unwinding flyer (13). The strand of the bundle is an algebraic sum of successive twists produced in particular phases of twisting. It is advantageous if the twisting as above is repeated.
Abstract:
An automobile tyre whose carcass, belts or chafers were reinforced with steel cords of at least two layers composing a number of steel filaments 1 to 3 having the same twist direction and the same twist pitch, coils of the filaments varying in diameter along the cord so that the filaments 1 to 3 intersect with each other to compose one layer at one position and at least another adjacent layer at another position.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel cord which is used for reinforcing rubber products, can reduce production cost, has good rubber material invasiveness, is little extended with low loads, and has a two-layered structure. SOLUTION: The method for producing the steel cord 10 comprises forming spiral curls on all core strands 11, pressing the product to form smaller pitch approximately sine wave-like curls than pitches for twisting in an approximately sine wave-like shape, simultaneously twisting the core strands 11 with side strands 12 to form a bundle-twisted two-layered structure, and then pressing the product in the direction crossing the longitudinal direction of the cord. Thus, in the cord 10, the core strands 11 contact with each other at any places in the longitudinal direction of the cord, and are discontinuously arranged in the longitudinal direction of the cord to partially contact in approximate parallel.
