Abstract: An apparatus configured to alternate the application of first and second gate voltages to a gate electrode of a photodetector. A first change in electrical current is relative to a predetermined measurement of electrical current taken at the first gate voltage in the absence of incident electromagnetic radiation, and a second change in electrical current is relative to a predetermined measurement of electrical current taken at the second gate voltage in the absence of the incident electromagnetic radiation. The photodetector comprises a channel, and source and drain electrodes configured to enable flow of electrical current through the channel. Quantum dots are configured to generate charge carriers on exposure to the incident electromagnetic radiation. The gate electrode is configured to generate an electric field upon the application of a gate voltage thereto, and process the signal to at least partially remove any changes in electrical current which are attributed to noise.

Abstract: A load driving apparatus adapted to drive an outdoor display is provided. The load driving apparatus includes a weather sensing circuit and a display driver. The weather sensing circuit is configured to sense a weather condition corresponding to an installation place of the outdoor display, and accordingly provides a sensing voltage signal varied along with the weather condition. The display driver is coupled between the weather sensing circuit and the outdoor display, and is configured to drive the outdoor display for displaying in response to the sensing voltage signal. When the weather condition is a cloudy day, the sensing voltage signal is linearly varied within a predetermined voltage range, and then the display brightness of the outdoor display is linearly varied between a maximum brightness and a minimum brightness.

Abstract: A photon counting device includes unit cells, a bias current source coupled to the unit cells, and a waveguide coupled to the unit cells. Each unit cell includes photodetector(s). Each photodetector includes superconducting component(s) and a transistor. The transistor includes a superconducting gate that is coupled in parallel with the photodetector(s), and a channel that is electrically isolated from the superconducting gate. For each unit cell, a photodetector is optically coupled to the waveguide. A superconducting component is configured to transition from the superconducting state to the non-superconducting state in response to a photon being incident upon the superconducting component while the superconducting component receives at least a portion of bias current output from the bias current source. The superconducting gate of the unit cell is configured to transition from the superconducting state to the non-superconducting state in response to the superconducting component transitioning to the non-superconducting state.

Abstract: A stroboscope with an integral optical reflective sensor, which can be removable or fixed, contains a light emitting source, a light sensitive receiver, a pulse conditioning circuit, a stroboscope circuit, a blanking circuit, and a stroboscope light source. The light emitting source projects a light beam to a reflective target. The reflected light beam from the reflective target is detected by the light sensitive receiver. The pulse conditioning circuit generates a set of electrical pulses coincident with the reflected light beam which are sent to the stroboscope circuit. Depending on the signal received by the stroboscope circuit, the stroboscope light source is triggered. The blanking circuit prevents false triggering of the stroboscope light source by introducing a time delay. The time delay is applied when the stroboscope light source is switched on and for a finite time after the stroboscope light source is switch off.
