Abstract:
A medium position determining device includes a sensor (50), and a scanning carriage (38) that is configured to move in a reciprocating manner in a scanning direction, in which the sensor is mounted to the scanning carriage. The device also includes a controller that is configured to move the scanning carriage and to determine a position of the scanning carriage with respect to the medium when the scanning carriage moves in the scanning direction. Moreover, the controller moves the scanning carriage at a first speed in the scanning direction, and after the controller determines that the scanning carriage is in a first position with respect to the medium, the controller moves the scanning carriage in the scanning direction at a second speed that is greater than the first speed.
Abstract:
There is disclosed an electronic printing apparatus which prints images on successive individual film units held in a cassette. Included in the apparatus is a carriage assembly which mounts the cassette for reciprocating movement along a given path. There is provided a carriage driving mechanism which drives the carriage assembly at different directions and speeds.
Abstract:
In a method and an apparatus for forming image, digital image information is generated by conveying a document and scanning an image recorded on the document while conveying the document. When an image is scanned with a high resolution that is greater than a default resolution, a document is conveyed at a default speed at an initial stage and the document is conveyed at a speed slower than the default speed during an image scanning operation. The image forming apparatus includes a scan unit scanning the image recorded on the document, and a conveying unit which conveys the document at a default speed in an initial stage of conveying the document, and which conveys the document at a speed slower than the default speed while scanning the image in a high resolution scanning operation that has higher resolution than a default resolution.
Abstract:
An image reading apparatus having a movable image reading unit, a locking mechanism locking the image reading device, and a position sensor. The image reading unit has an engaged portion. The lock mechanism has an engaging portion that engages the engaged portion. A first detected portion changes its position in accordance with the movement of the engaging portion. The position sensor detects the image reading unit when the image reading unit is in a first position, and detects the first detected portion when the engaging portion engages with the engaged portion.
Abstract:
An image scanning apparatus is capable of successively scanning a plurality of documents arranged on a document plate in an efficient manner by moving a sensor unit over the documents in a sub-scanning direction. When the plurality of documents arranged on the document plate is scanned, the motion of the sensor unit is selectively controlled in such a manner that after completion of scanning one document, the sensor unit is returned to its home position before starting scanning a next document, the sensor unit is temporarily stopped before starting scanning the next document, or the sensor unit is moved backward by a particular distance before starting scanning the next document.

Abstract:
In a transmission device with switchable gear ratios, a driving gear is disposed onto an output shaft of a motor, a rocker arm is pivoted on the output shaft through an electromagnetic clutch, a rocker arm gear mounted on the rocker arm is driven by the driving gear, a first gear set is driven by the rocker arm gear when the rocker arm is at a first position, a second gear set is driven by the rocker arm gear when the rocker arm is at a second position, and the first gear set and the second gear set have different output rotating speeds. In addition, a first magnetic element attracts the rocker arm at the first position, and a second magnetic element attracts the rocker arm at the second position. Thus, the gear ratio may be switched according to interactions between the electromagnetic clutch and the magnetic elements.
Abstract:
In accordance with the present invention, a method and a system for promoting scanning speed are provided. The method comprises steps of determining a transmission rate of a transit interface, adjusting system clock responsive to the transmission rate of the transit interface to change a data generated rate, and scanning an original to generate data at the rate controlled by the system clock. The key aspect of the present invention is by adjusting system clock to change the data generated rate corresponding to the transmission rate of the transit interface. Therefore, in response to the transmission rate of the transit interface, the system clock is adjusted to produce the data at a rate that can reduce the possibility of memory buffer full leading to the reduction in the time wasting on start-stop processes and therefore promote the scanning speed without requiring the increase in size of a memory buffer.
Abstract:
A scanner includes a housing, a transparent platform, a scanning module, a motor, a front compensation element and a rear compensation element. The housing includes a front section, a rear section, and a scanning section. The transparent platform is installed on the housing for a document to be placed on. The scanning module is installed inside the housing for scanning the document. The motor is used to drive the scanning module. The front and rear compensation elements are installed inside the housing to assist the motor with starting and stopping the scanning module.
Abstract:
The image scanning apparatus capable of reading an image by scanning a carriage equipped with a light source, mirrors and the like in a sub-scanning direction of an original document O, is provided, and in this apparatus, the stepping motor is used to drive the carriage, and an open loop control and switching of the exciter are carried out. With this structure, the scanning speed of the carriage can be increased to be higher than the set speed once, and then reduced to the set speed, thus making it possible to shorten the time for the carriage to move from the home position to the top of the document to be scanned, while suppressing the load on the CPU.
