Abstract: A device for use in light-beam treatment comprises an elongated light source (1) and a concentrating reflector (2) with a reflecting surface in the form of a surface of rotation with a generatrix consisting of a number of sections (3) joined together. The form of the surface generatrix of the reflector at any section other than the initial one (situated in the vicinity of the apex M of the reflector (2)) and the joining boundaries are determined by the system of equations. The initial profile segment of the reflector (2) from the apex M to the point R1, Z1 has the same form as a segment of a second order curve. On the face side of the concentrating reflector is mounted a hermetically protective transparent partition (4), the cross section of which is designed with a view to allowing additional focusing of the assigned light fractions from the linear source (1) at the focal point F.

Abstract: A reflector arrangement, especially for solar collectors, having a sheet (3) of reflecting material which is stretched to radiation-concentration shape in an airtight covering (1) of at least partly transparent material in that it divides the covering into two chambers (7, 8) within which different air pressures are maintained. The air pressures also maintain the covering (1) stretched around the sheet (3). The sheet (3) preferably is secured in a rigid frame (5) which, in turn, is connected to the covering (1). Radiation incident upon the sheet (3) is concentrated to a small area within which a radiation absorber is provided. The reflector arrangement is very easy to manufacture and also is inexpensive and can be quickly mounted, also by unskilled persons.

Abstract: Solar radiation reflector and method of forming the same, where the solar radiation reflector comprises a length of resilient sheet material having a reflective face, said sheet being elastically deformed substantially into the shape of an elastica such that said reflective face is concave by application of opposed inwardly directed forces to the sides thereof, a transparent cover located between the sides, the sides of said cover being adapted to engage and retain the sides of the sheet to counteract the resilient tendency of the sheet to return to its undeformed configuration. The method of forming the solar radiation reflector comprises providing a reflective surface on one face of a substantially rectangular resilient sheet of material applying opposed inwardly directed forces to the sides of the sheet to elastically deform the sheet to a substantially cylindrical elastical shape such that the reflective surface is concave, retaining the sides of the sheet in the deformed condition by the application therebetween of a transparent cover having at its sides means to engage and retain the sides of said sheet to counteract the resilient tendency of the sheet to return to its undeformed configuration.
