Abstract:
A non-adhesive, conductive strip is used to provide an electrical ground path between a solder electrode on the anti-reflective film of a cathode ray tube and the reinforcement or heat shrinkage band on the tube. The conductive strip is preferably held in place on the cathode ray tube using a magnet or magnets. Consequently, because the conductive strip is held in place by magnets and is non-adhesive, it can be removed and replaced repeatedly during the testing of the solder electrodes and anti-reflective film without potentially damaging the solder electrode or degrading the performance of the conductive tape that is typically used as the ground path in a completed cathode ray tube.
Abstract:
In a cathode ray tube device including an electron gun (4) inside a neck portion (3) of a funnel (2), a deflection yoke (5) having horizontal deflection coils (61) and vertical deflection coils (52) on an outer surface of the funnel (2) and on the side of a front panel with respect to the electron gun (4), and velocity modulation coils (6) on an outer surface of the neck portion (3), the velocity modulation coils are provided so that an end of the velocity modulation coil (6) on the side of the front panel is positioned on the side of the electron gun (4) with respect to an end of the horizontal deflection coil (51) on the side of the electron gun (4) and is positioned on the side of the front panel with respect to an end of the electron gun (4) on the side of the front panel. This can prevent a velocity modulation magnetic field (28) generated by the velocity modulation coils (6) from interfering with a deflection magnetic field and from generating eddy currents in a top unit (27) so as to be lost, thus making it possible to achieve a desired velocity modulation effect.
Abstract:
There is now provided a television cathode ray tube having a faceplate, an electron gun means, and a glass funnel to configure the cathode ray tube as a wide-angle, shallow-depth, implosion-resistant television cathode ray tube. The glass funnel has a solder edge, a funnel throat, a parabolic area and a funnel body and the external contour between the solder edge and the parabolic area along a first section which is defined by the direction of the diagonal of the television glass funnel is essentially a steeply descending straight line, along a second section which is defined by the direction of the major axis of the television glass funnel, is essentially a flat descending straight line, which descends steeply in a curve in the area of the solder edge, and along a third section which is defined by the direction of the small axis of the television glass funnel, is essentially a steeply descending straight line. The glass funnel is configured to minimize the height of the television cathode ray tube to position said deflection coil arrangement at a distance from the shadow mask to minimize errors of electron beams, to minimize the weight of the television cathode ray tube, and to minimize risk of implosion.
Abstract:
A color cathode ray tube is generally constituted from a panel section for visually displaying images and a neck portion containing therein an electron gun assembly plus a funnel section for coupling the panel section and the neck portion together. The panel comprises on its outer surface a colored film that includes a coloring matter or pigment for color-selective absorption of light rays and fine or micro-particles with electricity-resistant property for letting the pigment scatter or disperse. With said arrangement, it is possible to improve the light absorbability of the colored film, thereby enabling provision of the intended cathode ray tube with improved contrast.
Abstract:
A face panel used for an image display device is provided efficiently at a low cost, and the face panel has functions such as antireflection and it provides images with excellent resolution and contrast. The face panel is surface-treated by forming at least one coating film by spraying on the panel a coating material including microparticles. The coating material contains a solvent of ethylene glycol, propylene glycol ether, water and an alcohol having 1-3 carbon atoms.

Disclosed are a shrinkage band and a cathode ray tube (CRT) comprising the same. The shrinkage band includes includes a pair of spaced apart parallel first sides, a pair of spaced apart parallel second sides perpendicular to the first sides, the second sides being longer than the first sides, and corner portions connecting the first and second sides such that the corner portions are provided at four corners of the shrinkage band, wherein the shrinkage band is configured to go around an outer circumference of a CRT face panel skirt to apply tension to the face panel, and wherein the first sides, the second sides, and the corner portions of the shrinkage band comprise two materials each having a different permeability.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an anti-reflection member and a display. The anti-reflection member includes a light transmittable substrate and an anti-reflection film. The anti-reflection film includes a first film formed from a light transmittable material, a second film formed from a light absorptive material having an electrical conductivity, a third film formed from a light transmittable material, a fourth film formed from a light transmittable material having an electrical conductivity, a fifth film formed from a light transmittable material having a high refractive index, and a sixth film formed from a light transmittable material. The anti-reflection member can prevent reflection of not only light coming from the first film side but also light coming from the sixth film side, to thereby prevent an image from being doubly displayed on a screen.

Implosion proof structure in a flat cathode ray tube having a panel the atmospheric pressure exerts thereto as the flat cathode ray tube is evacuated, including implosion proof means strapped or coated on an outer circumferential surface of a funnel in the vicinity of the panel, thereby enhancing an implosion proof strength of the flat cathode ray tube.
Abstract:
A cathode ray tube has an electron gun supported on a stem of a vacuum envelope having stem pins. The electron gun includes electrodes fixed on two bead glasses, and mount supports are embedded in end portions of the bead glasses for supporting the electron gun on the stem, and a supporting member connects one of the stem pins and one of the mount supports. The supporting member includes a plate-like portion, first and second bent portions bent from respective sides of the plate-like portion to form a generally C-shaped transverse cross section, the first bent portion is welded to the one of the mount supports, and the second bent portion is welded to the one of the stem pins. An axial length of the plate-like portion on its first-bent-portion side is longer than that on its second-bent-portion side.
Abstract:
In a method of treating a surface of a face panel for an image display including forming a film on the surface using coating materials, the film is formed of at least two layers including a first layer formed by a spray coating method and a second layer formed by a spin coating method to be superposed on the first layer. Thus, a face plate having antireflection/antistatic effects and providing high-resolution images can be obtained with high efficiency.
