Abstract:
Composite bearings employing cold forming and sintering techniques. Improvements in compositions for impregnating porous layers of composite bearings are provided comprising lead or lead alloy, perfluorinated polymer, particulate thermoplastic polymer and clay in particular proportions. When such materials are formed into bearings and subsequently sintered, improved resistance to stripping and wear is provided.

Abstract:
A swash plate type compressor is arranged with a plurality of semispherical shoes 4 and a disc shaped swash plate 2. A resin coating 12 having a honeycomb structure is formed on a surface 2A and a rear surface 2B (sliding surface) of the swatch plate 2 which slides with the shoe 4. An edge part 12B (top end) of each of the multiple cylinder bodies 12A which forms the resin coating layer 12 are at the same plane and forms a sliding surface which slides with the shoe 4. In addition, an interior space of each cylinder body 12A forms a storage part of a lubricant and a container part for foreign objects 15. The swash plate 2 can be provided with excellent wear resistance, seizure resistance and lubrication retention.

Abstract:
A threaded joint for steel pipes comprising a pin and a box each having a contact surface including a threaded portion and an unthreaded metal contact portion, characterized in that the contact surface of at least one of the pin and the box has a solid lubricant coating formed thereon which comprises a lubricating powder selected from molybdenum disulfide and/or tungsten disulfide and a resin, the coatig having a hardness of 70-140 on the Rockwell M scale.
Abstract:
A threaded joint for steel pipe formed on a pin and a box having a contact surface including a threaded parts and a non-threaded metal contact part and capable of preventing a galling by repeated fastening and loosening operations without applying compound grease thereto, wherein a solid lubricating film including lubricating powder such as molybdenum disulfide and resin binder is formed on the contact surface of at least one of the pin and the bo by drying the film by primary heating in the temperature range of 70 °C to 150 °C and by a secondary heating in the range of from higher than 150 °C to 380 °C, the solid lubricating film thus obtained has a Rockwell M scale hardness of 70 to 140, an adhesive strength of 500 N/m or higher obtained by the SAICAS (Surface And Interfacial Cutting Analysis System) method, and excellent galling resistance and airtightness even in a high temperature well environment, and, when ultraviolet ray shielding particles such as titanium oxide are contained in the solid lubricating film, the rust-proofness of the threaded joint is increased.
Abstract:
A threaded joint for steel pipe formed on a pin and a box having a contact surface including threaded parts and a non-threaded metal contact part and capable of stably assuring a galling resistance and an airtightness without applying compound grease threreto, wherein a solid lubricating film formed with lubricating powder (e.g., molybdenum disulfide) and organic or inorganic binder is formed on the contact surface of at least one of the pin and the box, the ratio of area occupied by the secondary particles of 15 to 60 µm in equi-area equivalent diameter of the lubricating powder in the cross section of the solid lubricating film in thickness direction is 5 to 90%, and fiber-like filler (e.g., inorganic substance whisker) in addition to the lubricating powder is mixed into the solid lubricating film at the mass ratio of the fiber-like filler to the binder of 0.01 to 0.5, whereby, particulary, the galling resistance at high temperatures can be improved.

Abstract:
A process is disclosed for manufacturing a lubricant composition comprising combining a superabsorbent polymer with a material for decreasing friction between moving surfaces. The superabsorbent polymer absorbs from about 25 to greater than 100 times its weight in water and may comprise a polymer of acrylic acid, and acrylic ester, acrylonitrile or acrylamide, including co-polymers thereof or starch graft copolymers thereof or mixtures thereof. A product produced by the process includes the material for decreasing friction comprising a petroleum lubricant containing an additive, water containing an additive, synthetic lubricant, grease, solid lubricant or metal working lubricant, wherein the synthetic lubricant, grease, solid lubricant or metal working lubricant optionally contain an additive. A process comprising controlling the delivery of a lubricant to at least one of two moving surfaces in order to decrease friction between said moving surfaces, is also disclosed. This process includes applying the lubricant composition to at least one of the surfaces. The lubricant composition in this instance comprises a superabsorbant polymer combined with a material for decreasing friction between moving surfaces, wherein the material for decreasing friction comprises a petroleum lubricant, water, synthetic lubricant, grease, solid lubricant or metal working lubricant, and optionally an additive.
