Abstract:
A surface-coated rubber or plastic sliding member having a coating with excellent durability and high slipperiness, wherein the coating comprises a solid lubricant such as molybdenum disulfide, a resin matrix and a reinforcement, said resin matrix comprising a fluoroolefin vinyl ether polymer resin and/or a fluoroolefin vinyl ether/vinyl ester copolymer resin.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a brake fluid containing in the form of a soluble compound from 1 to 100 parts per million of a metal chosen from cobalt, lithium and barium. It also relates to a method for differentiating a brake fluid in which a small detectable amount of a metal chosen from cobalt lithium and barium, in the form of a soluble compound is added to the brake fluid. Furthermore, it also relates to a method for identifying a brake fluid in which the brake fluid is tested to determine whether it contains cobalt, barium or lithium.
Abstract:
A composition comprising : water; a surfactant or mixture of surfactants present in a concentration sufficient to form a spherulitic or dispersed lamellar phase in the absence of Electrolyte; and a substantially insoluble functional material, suspended in the composition; said composition being substantially free from Electrolyte.
Abstract:
A novel lubricant composition which processes high and positive friction characteristics and comprises (a) at least 20 % by weight of a polymer medium; (b) at least 5 % by weight of a solid lubricant; and (c) at least 5 % by weight of a powderized solid mineral friction modifier.
Abstract:
Warm forming and extrusion of metals, particularly ferrous-containing metals, at elevated temperatures are disclosed wherein a lubricant composition containing a rare earth metal halide is applied to the surface of the metal prior to the deformation thereof. Lanthanum trifluoride and cerium trifluoride are particularly useful. The compositions include: a liquid base, preferably an animal oil, vegetable oil, fat or fatty ester; a viscosity enhancer, preferably an asphaltic material; a lubricant effective at elevated temperatures; and the rare earth metal halide.
Abstract:
Fine particles of gallium or gallium alloy that are covered with a coating agent on the surface can be dispersed in a solvent such as an engine oil, n-hexane, etc., to make a variety of useful liquid suspensions which include a modified automotive engine oil which is more powerful than a commercial engine oil; a liquid ski wax which is portable in a cylindrical container; and the like.
Abstract:
A silicone grease composition comprising a vinyl-containing organopolysiloxane fluid, platinum or a platinum compound such as chloroplatinic acid and a thickening agent such as a finely divided silica filler. By virtue of this unique formulation, the silicone grease composition is self-extinguishable when it is set on fire so that it is useful as a filling material for electric cables.
Abstract:
