Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an atrium ablation catheter provided with an electrode forming a linear lesion part that does not contaminate the catheter, and to provide a method for medical treatment of atrial fibrillation.
SOLUTION: The ablation catheter (10) has a tubular catheter body (12). An unwithdrawable ablation assembly (15) is attached to the distal terminal section of the catheter body (12) and has a proximal nonconductive pipe (42), a distal nonconductive pipe (40), and the tubular electrode (38). The tubular electrode is made of a shape memory material and has at least one affusion port (39) which makes a fluid flow out from the inside of the electrode (38). The ablation assembly also has a nonconductive protective pipe (52) extended in parallel with the electrode (38) as a whole along the outside of the tubular electrode. The nonconductive protective pipe has proximal and distal end sections respectively extended into the proximal and distal nonconductive pipes.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an efficient piston flow type hot water storage tank capable of fully using hot water held in a hot water layer of the hot water storage tank for supply hot water, by providing a baffle plate on the bordery between a hot water layer and a cool water layer and vertically moving the baffle plate in accordance with the vertical movement of the bordery. CONSTITUTION:A baffle plate 7 is caused to constantly exist on the border between a hot water layer 11 and a cool water layer 12 as to prevent hot water and cool water from mixing with each other and also from producing low- temerature hot water. When a bordery layer moves from a position A to a position B, a part 13' which has lost a memory resilient force by the cool water temperature and has extended rectilinearly comes into contact with hot water, and hence the memory resilient force is restored and the part 13' winds around a rotary shaft 16. As a result, the baffle plate 7 is forcibly moved up to the position B. Conversely, when the bordery layer moves from the position A to the position C, a spiral spring 13 winding around the rotary shaft 16 loses the resilient force, and a part of the spiral spring 13 due to the bouyancy of the baffle plate 7 returns to a rectilinear state. As a result, the baffle plate 7 moves to the position C.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the temperature dispersionin regenerative energy, by connecting valves for a heat storage section by a shape-memory alloy. CONSTITUTION:A heat storage tank is constituted by juxtaposing a plurality of heat storage sections 4-6 by connecting each section by an interconnecting tube or a mole weir, or by overlaying heat storage sections 4-6 in a multi-tank type. Each heat storage section 4-6 is connected to a feed pipe 8 for feeding of thermal energy by conduits 131-133 provided with valves combined with shape- memory alloy 11. With such an arrangement, the temperature dispersion in the thermal energy being fed from a heat collector unit and the like can be prevented.

Abstract: The invention generally relates to shape memory films that are tri-functionally crosslinked and that comprise multiple, non-terminal, phenylethynyl moieties. In addition, the present invention relates methods of fabricating such films. Due to the improved properties of such SMPS, the SMP designer can program in to the SMP mechanical property enhancements that make the SMP suitable, among other things, for advanced sensors, high temperature actuators, responder matrix materials and heat responsive packaging.

The polymer material can be a polymer with pendant imidazolium groups. An ionic nanocomposite can be present as a film (e.g., a thin film). An ionic nanocomposite can be used in devices. A nanocomposite can be used in various coating application.
