Abstract:
According to the invention there is provided a liquid friction control composition characterized as either having a high and positive friction characteristic or a low and neutral friction characteristic, comprising a retentivity agent. The liquid friction control composition may also comprise other components such as a solid lubricant, a wetting agent, a consistency modifier, and a preservative. The liquid friction control compositions may be used to modify the interfacial friction characteristics in sliding and rolling-sliding contact such as steel wheel-rail systems including mass transit and freight systems.

Abstract:
A method of effectively and easily controlling the water base-process type lubricating and processing fluid for cold forging, containing at least one or more types of water-soluble inorganic salt, used for cold forging without forming a chemical conversion coating on a metal surface, comprising the steps of measuring the electric conductivity of the lubricating and processing fluid, and feeding lubricant or water to adjust the electric conductivity to a desirable value before operation.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to lubricant compositions and can be used for treatment of friction units in different machines and mechanisms in manufacturing processes, the purpose of which is modification of friction surfaces. The basis of the invention is the improvement of lubricant composition, in which as the consequence of the additional use of thickener and wax, the viscosity of lubricant composition sufficient for conversation of uniform distribution of solid component in lubricant composition in broad temperature range is provided; and at the expense of that, the possibility of conservation of lubricant composition in any packaging and bulks, which are usable even under operating conditions of machines and mechanisms, is reached. The lubricant composition acquires the state of gel, that is convenient to put on any friction surface, to deposit on a zone of friction of any friction units. The lubricant composition ensures the receiving of engineering results similar to those, which solid components exhibit using fine-dispersed powder on basis of natural minerals from flaky silicates series and at the same time the sedimentation properties of lubricant composition permit its continuous conservation in broad temperature range without variation of lubrication and modification properties.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to an antimicrobial composition, comprising pyrithione or a pyrithione complex; and a zinc or copper or silver source selected from the group consisting of zinc or copper or silver salts, oxides, hydroxides, sulfates, chlorides, metals, and combinations thereof; wherein the weight ratio of the zinc or copper or silver source to the pyrithione or the pyrithione complex is in the range from about 1:300 to about 50:1, and wherein the antimicrobial composition has an enhanced biocidal effect against a variety of free-living microorganisms or biofilms. Also disclosed is a method of inhibiting the growth of free-living microorganisms or biofilm utilizing the above antimicrobial composition, as well as use of such antimicrobial compositions in various products including fuels, fluids, lubricants, coatings, adhesives, sealants, elastomers, soaps, cosmetics, plastic or woven or non-woven fibers, pharmaceuticals, and as preservatives for the above products.
Abstract:
Extreme pressure lubricants, concentrates and greases. Disclosed herein are extreme pressure metal working lubricants which comprise a lubricant base material and a reaction product of (1) an amine containing from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms and (2) sulfamic acid or derivative thereof containing from 1 to about 30 carbon atoms. The reaction product or extreme pressure additive may be either water soluble or oil soluble. Amines containing from 1 to about 7 carbon atoms are generally used for making water soluble reaction products, and amines containing 8 or more (up to about 30) carbon atoms are generally used for making oil soluble reaction products. Water based lubricants comprise water and a water soluble reaction product. Oil based lubricants comprise an oil of lubricating viscosity and an oil soluble reaction product. Reaction products may be either addition products or sulfonamides.
Abstract:
Lubricating oils exhibiting anti rust-properties are obtained by adding to the lubricating oil an acidic anti-rust additive and an acid scavenger such as carbodiimide, in a specific sequence.
