Abstract:
In a receiver, a channel quality metric (220) is determined by demodulating a received second stream of discrete data elements (205) using a received first stream of discrete data elements (203) to produce a demodulated second stream of discrete data elements (212). The demodulated second stream is decoded, leading to an estimate of the second stream of discrete data elements (214). The estimate of the second stream is then re-encoded and the resulting re-encoded stream of discrete data elements (216) is compared with the demodulated second stream to produce the channel quality metric. Derived in this manner, the channel quality metric provides a method for detecting decoding errors in a stream of critical data elements.
Abstract:
An error detection system for a discrete receiver. Sequences of bits together forming frames of information comprise the signal received by the discrete receiver. The signal is decoded by a convolutional decoder and is re-encoded by an encoder. Successive portions of nonoverlapping sets of adjacently positioned bits of the re-encoded signal formed by the encoder are compared with corresponding bits of a signal representative of the signal received by the receiver. When excessive numbers of the successive portions of the signals which are compared include bit dissimilarities, a bad frame indication is generated.
Abstract:
A low-overhead method of protecting multi-pulse speech coders from the effects of severe random or fading pattern bit errors combines a standard error correcting code (convolutional rate 1/2 coding and Viterbi trellis decoding) for protection in random errors with cyclic redundancy code (CRC) error detection for fading errors. Compensation for detected fading errors takes place within the speech coder. Protection is applied only to the perceptually significant bits in the transmitted frame.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for controlling a vector processor for jointly processing signals to be transmitted over, or received from, a group of vectored lines, and configured with a current set of vectoring coefficients. In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the method comprises temporarily configuring the vector processor with a new set of vectoring coefficients during one or more selected symbol positions; restoring the current set of vectoring coefficients outside the one or more selected symbol positions; obtaining at least one error measure over respectively at least one line of the group of vectored lines during the one or more selected symbol positions; and determining a suitability indication for the new set of vectoring coefficients based on the obtained at least one error measure. The present invention also relates to a controller for controlling a vector processor, and to an access node including such a controller.
Abstract:
A method, system, network and device provide Smart Grid RFI detection. One or more symbols or chips present in one or more received radio frequency signals are detected and the presence of one or more erred symbols or chips in the detected one or more symbols present in the received one or more radio frequency signals determined. A correlation in time between the one or more erred symbols or chips and an infrastructure waveform associated with electrical infrastructure can be determined. When the determined correlation indicates the electrical infrastructure as a source of detectable radio frequency interference to a device, a pattern flag is generated. The pattern flag or pattern flag representation can be stored and/or transmitted.
Abstract:
A method and arrangement for estimating the current channel quality for a data transfer in a mobile network. In a sending system entity, a channel quality estimate (CQE) associated with a data transfer to a receiving system entity in a mobile communication network is adjusted. One or more probing packets are communicated 400 between the sending system entity and the receiving system entity, each probing packet being formatted according to a predefined combination of transmission parameters. Furthermore, is a Channel State Information (CSI) report received 404 from the receiving system entity, and the CQE is adjusted 406 based on the CSI report and which probing packets have been successfully communicated. By sending a sequence of probing packets, each formatted according to a predefined combination of transmission parameters, and not waiting for each packet to be acknowledged, a fast and accurate estimation of the current channel quality is achieved.
Abstract:
A decoding-reliability metric from a received-signal decoder is compared with a threshold to decrease significantly the probability of false detection in a receiver and thus increase communication reliability and performance. In a wideband code division multiple access communication system, for example, significant decrease of the probability of false grant-message detection and significant increases of enhanced uplink performance and reliability can be obtained.
Abstract:
By utilizing Reed-Solomon erasure decoding algorithms and techniques, the system is able to perform error detection for the case where the number of bytes received in error exceeds a correcting capability of a decoder. The error detection can be used, for example, to determine whether a codeword is decodable, and whether the retransmission of data is necessary. The retransmission can be accomplished by assembling a message that is sent to another modem requesting retransmission of one or more portions of data, such as one or more codewords.
Abstract:
The exemplary embodiments of this invention relate in part to an apparatus that includes an error correction function and a controller configured to receive radio access scheduling information in response to a scheduling request sent to a multiradio controller. The controller is responsive to the radio access scheduling information containing an indication of a time when during a scheduling interval reception is blocked for a receiver of the apparatus, due at least in part to simultaneously scheduled operation of a transmitter, to send information to the error correction function for marking as erased any symbols received during a time that the reception is indicated to be blocked. The exemplary embodiments of this invention may be realized at least in part in a software defined radio platform that includes the multiradio controller and a plurality of radio access units.
