Abstract:
A safety catheter insertion assembly configured to inhibit access to the distal tip of a needle cannula prior to release of a catheter insertion assembly from a catheter hub. The safety catheter insertion assembly including a catheter assembly having an elastomeric blood control valve and a catheter insertion device having a safety clip, the safety clip movable between an expanded configuration in which a portion of the safety clip applies a compressive force to a portion of the elastomeric blood control valve, and a collapsed configuration in which the compressive force is reduced and release of the safety clip from the elastomeric blood control valve is enabled.
Abstract:
An LVP that provides peristaltic pumping to removably couplable administration set tubing assemblies supplying medical infusate. The LVP includes a housing, a drive-train assembly, and a controller. The housing includes an assembly receptacle configured to receive an administration set tubing assembly. The drive-train assembly provides mechanical peristaltic movement within the assembly receptacle. The drive-train assembly includes a stepper motor located within the housing and a camshaft assembly, driven by the stepper motor and at least partially extending into the assembly receptacle. The camshaft assembly includes a unitary camshaft and a plurality of tube engaging members that cooperatively move according to rotation of the unitary camshaft. Further, the controller is located within the housing that controls operation of the stepper motor and the camshaft assembly.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides for a safety catheter assembly comprising a needle hub, a catheter hub, a tip protector housing. Various embodiments can comprises a push-off tab extending radially from the tip protector housing or a portion thereof, and/or structure can be added or removed to affect compliance between a catheter assembly and a catheter insertion device.
Abstract:
A medical infusion pump for delivering a medicament to a patient. The pump includes a user interface to display a choice of nominal medicament delivery rates. The user interface enables a practitioner to select one of the displayed nominal medicament delivery rates. It further enables the practitioner to enter a numerical multiplier factor, thereby creating a nominal delivery rate. It further enables the practitioner to create a custom alphanumeric string that the practitioner associates with a patient characteristic, enter a numeric value relating to the patient characteristic, and determine an actual delivery rate by modifying the selected nominal medicament delivery rate based on the numeric value relating to the patient characteristic. The pump mechanism is then controlled to deliver medicament from a reservoir to a patient at the actual delivery rate.
Abstract:
An infusion line clamp system includes a clamp configured to attach to an infusion line and reversibly occlude the infusion line. The clamp is biased to occlude the infusion line except when acted upon by an externally applied opening force. The system also includes an infusion pump having a control system, a clamp receptacle configured to releasably secure the clamp to the infusion pump, and a clamp actuation mechanism that is configured to selectively actuate the clamp under command of the control system, by selective application of opening force to the clamp when the clamp is secured to the pump.
Abstract:
An administration set is configured to couple to a control module of a peristaltic infusion pump. The set can include a pressure plate and a peristaltic tube. The pressure plate can have attachment features structured to mate with corresponding attachment features of the control module such that the pressure plate is maintained in a fixed position relative to the control module. The peristaltic tube can include a first portion having first inner and outer diameters, a second portion downstream of the first portion having second inner and outer diameters, and a transition portion between the first and second portions. The peristaltic tube can be located along the pressure plate and positioned such that when the attachment features of the pressure plate and control module are mated, an expulsor of the control module engages the first portion and an air- in-line detector of the control module engages the second portion.
Abstract:
An infusion pump can include a receptacle configured to receive a syringe and a receptacle flap that can be pivotably attached to the pump. The receptacle flap can be pivotable between an open mode and a closed mode, where in the closed mode, the receptacle flap is in a position that substantially inhibits access to the receptacle and to the syringe received by the receptacle, and in the open mode, the receptacle flap is in a position that enables access to the receptacle and to the syringe received by the receptacle. The receptacle flap can include a surface structured for erasably marking with a compatible marking device.
Abstract:
A method for pairing a portable device with a medical device can include displaying an association code on a dynamic display of the medical device and determining whether the portable device is positioned relative to the medical device within a predetermined range of positioning parameters. If the portable device is positioned relative to the medical device within the predetermined range of positioning parameters, the method can include optically reading the association code from the dynamic display of the medical device with the portable device. Only if the portable device is positioned relative to the medical device within the predetermined range of positioning parameters, and the association code is optically read from the dynamic display of the medical device with the portable device, then the method can include pairing the portable and medical devices such that the medical device responds to commands sent from the portable device to the medical device.
Abstract:
An infusion system fully compliant with international standard ISO 80639-1, Small-bore Connectors for Liquids and Gases in Healthcare Applications, yet compatible with a multipurpose infusion pump to enable operational redeployment of the pump. An attachment set, removably couplable to the pump inlet and outlet, includes a coded attachment set outlet connector detachably coupling the attachment set to an infusion set, and a coded attachment set pump fitting coupling the attachment set to the infusion pump, thereby identifying to the pump a particular infusion route.
Abstract:
A dose request device for a medicament delivery device can include a housing, a dose request button, a short-range non-contact identifier, a communication interface configured to communicate with the medicament delivery device, and a controller. The short-range non-contact identifier can be configured to be capable of reading an identification code from a tag when the tag is disposed within a first range and not to be able to read the identification code from the tag when the tag is disposed beyond a second range. The controller can be configured and programmed to determine whether the identification code read by the short-range non-contact identifier matches any authorized identification code of a set of one or more authorized identification codes, and if so, and if the dose request button is pressed, the controller can then communicate a dose request to the medicament delivery device via the communication interface.
