PCT No. PCT/CA97/00658 Sec. 371 Date Jun. 22, 1999 Sec. 102(e) Date Jun. 22, 1999 PCT Filed Sep. 11, 1997 PCT Pub. No. WO98/13445 PCT Pub. Date Apr. 2, 1998The present invention relates to novel lubricant compositions comprising a solid lubricant and a binding agent in water medium suitable for lubricating steel-steel interfaces such as tractor-trailer couplings, rail-wheel systems and other heavy duty applications. The invention also relates to compositions described above which include friction modifiers with high or very high and positive coefficients of friction such that the coefficient of friction is considerably higher than the solid lubricant. The invention further relates to compositions comprising a binding agent and a friction modifier with a very high and positive coefficient of friction in a water medium.
Abstract:
A constant-velocity joint for a propeller shaft is provided which can be used with good durability without adding any organic lead compound, which is high in the effect of suppressing temperature rise of grease during high-speed rotation, and which can prevent deterioration of the grease. It is a cross-groove type constant-velocity joint in which the PCD clearance is negative and a preload is imparted or any other constant-velocity joint for a propeller shaft in which a grease containing the following components (a), (b) and (g) or (a) to (g) as essential components is sealed: (a) base oil (b) diurea type thickening agent expressed by the following formula R1NH-CO-NH-C6H4-p-CH2-C6H4-p-NH-CO-NHR2 (wherein R1 and R2 are the same or different aryl or cyclohexyl groups having a carbon number of 6 or 7) (c) molybdenum sulfurized dialkyl dithiocarbamate, molybdenum sulfurized dialkyl dithiophosphate, or a mixture thereof, (d) molybdenum disulfide, (e) Zinc dithiophosphate compound, sulfur-nitrogen-family extreme-pressure agent or an extreme-pressure agent in which both are mixed, (f) phosphorus-free, sulfur-containing extreme-pressure agent, (g) sulfur-containing organic tin compound.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction modified additive which can give a lower friction coefficient to a lubricant composition. SOLUTION: A lubricant composition comprises: (a) a lubricant and (b) at least one molybdenum-containing compound in nanosized particle form surface-capped of a compound of general formula: (Z) n (X-R) m wherein Z is an inorganic moiety comprising molybdenum and sulfur in the form of particles having dimensions in the range of from about 1 to about 100 nm; (X-R) is a surface-capping reagent wherein R is C 4 to C 20 straight or branched-chain alkyl or alkylated cycloalkyl (single or plural) and X is a functional group capable of specific sorption and/or chemical interaction with molybdenum/sulfur moiety; n is the number of molecules of Z in the particles; m is an integer representing the number of surface-capping reagents relative to that of a single particle; and the ratio of m to n is in the range of from about 1:1 to about 10:1. Abstract:
This invention relates to a lubricating composition comprising a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity, (A) at least one organic polysulfide comprising at least about 90% dihydrocarbyl trisulfide, from about 0.1% up to about 8% dihydrocarbyl disulfide, and less than about 5% dihydrocarbyl higher polysulfides, and (B) at least one overbased metal composition, at least one phosphorus or boron compound, or mixtures of two or more thereof. The invention also relates to concentrates and greases containing the above combination. The invention also relates to methods of making the organic polysulfide.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grease composition which is excellent in the low friction coefficient and abrasion resistant property, and is environmentally friendly. SOLUTION: The grease composition is produced by adding of (A) 0.1-5 wt.% of wolfram disulfide and (B) 0.1-5 wt.% of zinc dithiophosphate and/or molybdenum dialkyldithiocarbamate to a grease containing 1-25 wt.% of a urea compound, or optionally further adding (C) 0.1-5 wt.% of molybdenum dithiophosphate. A grease composition being excellent in low friction coefficient and abrasion-resistant property, and also enviromentally friendly can be produced without using or using a relatively small amount of a molybdenum compound, which is subject to PRTR. Abstract:
A grease composition for construction equipment comprises a lubricating grease, a) 1 to 5% by weight of phosphate glass and b) 1 to 5% by weight of a sulfur-phosphorus extreme-pressure additive; as well as c) 0.5 to 3% by weight of an aromatic sulfonic acid salt and d) 0.1 to 3% by weight of a triazole compound as optional components based on the total weight of the grease composition. The grease composition exhibits considerably high resistance to load and accordingly, can be applied to construction equipment which require high resistance to load, such as a hydrauric excavator and a wheel loader.
