Abstract:
A water-based release agent comprises: 30-99% total solids by weight chemically exfoliated vermiculite, and 1-70% total solids by weight of a plate-like filler. Such release agents are particularly suitable for use with gaskets. An anisotropic release agent is formed from which it is easy to release other materials.
Abstract:
A composition of matter for use in tribological applications, such as in mechanical seals, bearings and other sliding or rubbing components, which provides good durability and wear characteristics. The material is used in the 'softer' one of two relatively sliding members which are in, or may come into, contact with each other during the relative rotation of one of the members relative to the other. The material is a carbon or carbonaceous formed material, such as is normally used in the manufacture of a primary seal ring in a mechanical seal, and comprises an additive compound which contains at least one compound from a group consisting of neodymium fluoride, praseodymium fluoride, gadolinium fluoride and lanthanum fluoride.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a sliding member formed of a synthetic resin composed mainly of a polyethylene, said sliding member comprising a molded piece of a polyethylene having a viscosity-average molecular weight of 500,000 to 6,000,000 inclusive, having a low coefficient of friction and excelling in both its own wear resistance and its property of preventing the abrasion of an associated member.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Disclosed are high performance grease compositions containing methylfluoroalkylsiloxanes and solid thickeners containing fluorinated polymers.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Adducts of clay, especially of the smectite variety, most especially bentonite, are prepared with an effective amount of at least one activated mixed metal oxide or oxy-hydroxide (AHMMO) formed by dehydrating hydrotalcite or a mixture comprising magnesium oxide and aluminum oxide, or a crystalline mixed metal hydroxide conforming substantially to the formula LimDdT(OH)¿(m+2d+3+n.a)(A?n)a.xH2O where m is zero to one, D is a divalent metal, d is from zero to 4, T is a trivalent metal, A represents at least one anion or negative-valence radical of valence n, where n is 1 or more, (m+2d+3+n.a) is equal to or greater than 3, (m+d) is greater than zero, and xH2O represents excess waters of hydration. These adducts are useful, e.g., in drilling muds and in viscosity modification of a wide variety of fluids.
Abstract:
The oil comprises as a base oil carbonic acid ester(s) prepd. from a source of carbonic acid moieties and the following alcoholic components: (A) a monohydric alcohol, (B) a dihydric alcohol, and (C) a neopentyl type polyol having 5-7C and 3-4 OH gps. or its dimer or trimer.
Abstract:
A carrier-free pulverulent metalworking lubricant composition. In one form, the composition contains from 2 to 30% by weight sulfur and at least one component having adhesive properties at forging temperatures, the composition being formed by a method comprising the steps of: (a) forming a dry mixture of said particulate lubricant components, and (b) agglomerating said admixture to form agglomerated particles. The application of the composition as a metal working lubricant significantly reduces smoke and oily waste generation in hot forging operations by eliminating the use of oils or volatile organic compounds as carriers, while providing acceptable performance, cleanability and sprayability.
