Abstract: Lubricating solutions are used on conveying systems in the beverage industry during the filling of containers with beverages. Lubricating compositions of the present invention, especially those designed for use in beverage conveying systems for contained beverages, comprise at least the following components:a) an alkyl alkoxylated (e.g., ethoxylated or propoxylated, preferably ethoxylated) phosphate ester,b) aryl (e.g., aromatic, such as phenol) alkoxylated (e.g., ethoxylated or propoxylated) phosphate ester,c) an aromatic or linear quaternary ammonium antimicrobial agent, andd) a liquid carrier, such as water.These lubricating solutions are capable of providing good lubricity and antimicrobial activity over a prolonged time.

Abstract: A dilatancy liquid is a sol under a low shear stress and a gel under a high shear stress, and includes inorganic particles having a roundness of 1.1 or less, and a particle diameter of from 0.05 to 5 .mu.m, and a liquid held among the inorganic particles. The dilatancy liquid is of high mechanical strength, and exhibits a low viscosity under a low shear stress and a high viscosity under a high shear stress; namely: it exhibits a large viscous-resistance variation by a shear-stress increment.

Abstract: A swash plate type compressor having a cylinder block with cylinder bores disposed parallel to the axis of the cylinder block. A rotary shaft rotatably mounted within the cylinder block carries an aluminum swash plate. The swash plate is fixed to the rotary shaft and has two facial surfaces and an end surface. The facial surfaces have a coating of between 0.0005 inches to 0.002 inches of a heat curable, cross-linked polyfluoro elastomer bonded directly to the aluminum, a lubricious additive and a load bearing additive. A piston reciprocally fitted within the cylinder bore contains shoes which slideably intervene between the piston and the swash plate facial surfaces and reciprocate the pistons by rotation of the swash plate. The coating on the swash plate permits the use of slow silicon alloy aluminum without the need of metal plating or high finish polishing.

Abstract: An improved composition of matter and method for neutralizing acid in air conditioning or refrigeration systems is disclosed. An acid neutralizing substance (such as an alkali metal hydrate) is supersaturated into an anhydrous alcohol to form an alkaline solution. The solution is then mixed with a lubricating oil, and the resulting mixture introduced into a refrigerant compressor system on the high pressure side of the compressor. The improved composition and method can also be utilized to prevent the formation of acid in a compressor system. The improved composition is also used to neutralize any acid in refrigerants prior to disposal. The improved composition is also used to neutralize any acid in recycled refrigeration oil prior to reuse of the oil.

Abstract: A water washable thermally conductive grease useful for thermal coupling of electronic chips and heat sinks in electronic modules comprises a hydrophilic alkylene oxide modified silicone carrier, and up to 90 weight percent of a microparticulate thermally conductive filler. In a preferred embodiment, the thixotropic dielectric composition further comprises an antioxidant and an ionic surfactant to promote wetting/dispersion of the microparticulate filler. The thermally conductive grease is non-corrosive, resistant to shear induced phase destabilization and capable of being washed from module surfaces with aqueous solutions. Substitution of the present hydrophilic based greases for art-recognized solvent washable greases eliminates use of non-aqueous solvents in electronic module processing/reprocessing operations.
