Abstract:
The invention relates to an apparatus having sliding parts and a compound for preventing diffusion or separation of a base oil; and to a compound for preventing diffusion or separation of the base oil used for the apparatus, which is an electronic or electric appliance using a joule heat generating source, means for taking out joule heat to the outside by sliding with said heat generating source, and heat a conducting compound intervenient between said heat taking out means and heat generating source; and the heat conducting compound used for the appliance.
Abstract:
The slider consists of an injection molded product or polyethylene having a viscosity average molecular weight of 500,000-6,000,000. Slider has a low coefft. of friction and both excellent abrasion resisting characteristics and excellent characteristics of preventing another material from being worn out. @(81pp Dwg.No.0/11).
Abstract:
Aqueous-based functional products such as household or commercial cleansers, household products, commercial products, and personal care products are thickened or viscosity-modified by the addition of at least one crystalline mixed metal hydroxide of the formula LimDdT(OH)(m+2d+3+n.a)Aan.xH2O, where m is zero to one, D is a divalent metal, d is from zero to 4, T is a trivalent metal, A is at least one anion or negative-valence radical of valence n, where n is 1 or more, (m+2d+3+n.a) is equal to or greater than 3, (m+d) is greater than zero, and xH2O is waters of hydration.
Abstract:
Surfaces which have substantially continuous frictional contact, eg. reciprocating engine parts, are coated with a solid film lubricant having excellent wear characteristics and adhesion. The parts in question may be pistons, and the area to which the wear resistant solid lubricant film is bonded is the piston skirt -- i.e., all or a portion of the area below the piston rings. The lubricant is composed of a polyimide derived from 2,2-bis[4-(4-amino- phenoxy)phenyl]hexafluoropropane ("4-BDAF") and an aromatic tetracarboxylic acid (or dianhydride or ester thereof) containing fluorinated carbon.
Abstract:
Novel monodispersed crystalline mixed metal layered hydroxide compounds of the general formula: where m is from zero to about 1; D is a divalent metal; d is from zero to about 4; T is a trivalent metal; A represents anions or negative-valence radicals of valence n; na is from zero to about-3; (m+d) is greater than zero; a is the number of A ions; q is from zero to about 6; and (m+2d+3+na) is equal to or greater than 3. The D metal is preferably Mg and the T metal is preferably A1. These compounds are useful as gelling agents which impart beneficial thixotropic properties to various fluids, such as drilling fluids, especially when employed along with fluid loss agents.
Abstract:
Novel compositions useful as fluid gelling agents, especially for use in subterranean applications such as drilling fluids, are prepared by reacting an aqueous dispersion of a clay, such as bentonite, with an aqueous gel of a monodispersed mixed metal layered hydroxide.
Abstract:
A lubricant additive for gear oils and an improved gear oil are disclosed. The additive comprises about 0.01 to about 65 percent, by weight, of solid lubricant particles selected from the group consisting of molybdenum disulfide, graphite, cerium fluoride, zinc oxide, tungsten disulfide, mica, boron nitrate, boron nitride, borax, silver sulfate, cadmium iodide, lead iodide, barium fluoride, tin sulfide, fluorinated carbon, PTFE, intercalated graphite, zinc phosphide, zinc phosphate, and mixtures thereof; combined with about 0.1 to about 25 percent, by weight, of a stabilizing agent consisting of an ethylene-propylene copolymer; and a fluid carrier. The lubricant additive provides the gear oil with improved demulsibility, stability, and compatibility characteristics of the gear oil when contaminated with water.
Abstract:
@ A layered compound of beta-ZrNX in which X is chlorine, bromine or a solid solution of chlorine and bromine is useful as a lubricant or an electrochromic display member.
