Abstract: The disclosure is directed to an iron-nitride material having a polycrystalline microstructure including a plurality of elongated crystallographic grains with grain boundaries, the iron-nitride material including at least one of an α″-Fe16N2 phase and a body-center-tetragonal (bct) phase comprising Fe and N. The disclosure is also directed a method producing an iron-nitride material. The method includes some combinations of preparing a raw material comprising iron, carrying out a microstructure build-up by annealing the prepared raw material at an elevated temperature and subsequently quenching the prepared raw material to produce a microstructure build-up material, annealing the microstructure build-up material, reducing the microstructure build-up material in a hydrogen environment, nitriding the reduced material to produce a nitrided material and subsequently quenching the nitrided material to a martensitic transformation temperature, stress annealing the nitrided material, and magnetic field annealing the stress-annealed material.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a non-grain-oriented electrical steel strip which can be used in electric machines such as electric motors and generators. In examples, the non-grain oriented electrical steel strip can be used as a stator having good magnetic properties and as a rotor having good mechanical properties. A reference heat treatment performed subsequent to an initial final heat treatment makes it possible to obtain improved magnetic properties.

Abstract: Provided is an apparatus for continuously nitriding a strip continuously being fed after cold rolling and before secondary recrystallization annealing in a production line of a grain-oriented electrical steel sheet, comprising: a nitriding zone for nitriding the strip; a cooling zone for cooling the strip; and an optional heating zone provided upstream of the nitriding zone for heating the strip, wherein, the nitriding zone is provided with glow discharge electrodes, and by plasma nitriding the strip by glow discharge with the glow discharge electrodes functioning as positive electrodes and the strip functioning as a negative electrode, inhibitor forming elements are uniformly dispersed over the full length and full width of the strip and a grain-oriented electrical steel sheet with excellent magnetic properties with no variation is obtained.

Abstract: A manufacturing method of a nitrided steel member and the nitrided steel member include: performing a nitriding treatment on a steel member made of a carbon steel or an alloy steel in an atmosphere of a nitriding treatment gas in which when the total pressure is set to 1, a partial pressure ratio of NH3 gas is set to 0.08 to 0.34, a partial pressure ratio of H2 gas is set to 0.54 to 0.82, and a partial pressure ratio of N2 gas is set to 0.09 to 0.18, at a flow speed of the nitriding treatment gas set to 1 m/s or more, at 500 to 620° C.; and thereby, forming an iron nitride compound layer having a thickness of 2 to 17 μm on a surface of the steel member.

Abstract: Provided is a grain-oriented electrical steel sheet, with reduced iron loss by magnetic domain refining treatment, exhibiting an excellent noise property and effectively reducing noise generated when stacked in an iron core of a transformer. In a grain-oriented electrical steel sheet including a forsterite film and a tension coating on both surfaces, magnetic domain refining treatment has been performed to apply linear thermal strain to the grain-oriented electrical steel sheet, the magnitude of deflection in the rolling direction of the steel sheet is 600 mm or more and 6000 mm or less as the curvature radius of the deflected surface with the surface having the strain applied thereto being the inner side, and the magnitude of deflection in the direction orthogonal to the rolling direction is 2000 mm or more as the curvature radius of the deflected surface with the surface having the strain applied thereto being the inner side.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for manufacturing a grain-oriented electrical steel sheet using an inhibitor-less technique, in which cold rolling includes final cold rolling with a total cold rolling reduction being set to 85% or more and a rolling reduction per pass being set to 32% or more. The final cold rolling includes one or more passes and a final pass succeeding the one or more passes and uses work rolls having a surface roughness Ra of 0.25 μm or less in at least one of the one or more passes other than the final pass. According to this method, it is possible to stably manufacture a grain-oriented electrical steel sheet exhibiting excellent magnetic properties at low cost.
