Abstract:
Waterborne lubricants comprising: (A) water-soluble inorganic salt; (B) homogeneously dispersed solid lubricant; (C) at least one homogeneously emulsified substance selected from mineral oils, animal and plant oils and fats, and synthetic oils; (D) surfactant; and (E) water, in which the weight ratio (B)/(A) is from 0.05:1 to 2:1 and the weight ratio {C/(A + B)} is from 0.05:1 to 1:1, provide a one-step, highly lubricating waterborne lubricant for use in the cold plastic working of metals. This waterborne lubricant can replace the conversion coating treatment (phosphate, oxalate, etc.) + reactive soap treatment combined lubrication system now in general use and is free of the environmental issues associated with the combined lubrication system, provides for facile coating removal, and is not subject to the decline in seizure resistance caused by nonuniform add-on when large numbers of workpieces are treated together by immersion.
Abstract:
A composition of an oil-soluble ionic detergent that does not contribute metal ions to the composition, and which comprises a quaternary non-metallic pnictogen cation and an organic anion having at least one hydrocarbyl group of sufficient length to impart oil solubility to the detergent, the detergent having a total base number (TBN) to total acid number (TAN) ratio of at least 2:1 imparts ash-free basicity to a lubricant composition.
Abstract:
A grease composition for a constant velocity joint, characterised in that it contains from 0.05 to 30 percent by weight of sodium thiosulphate with respect to a base oil and urea-based thickener.
Abstract:
An aqueous lubricant for use in plastic working of a metallic material which comprises (A) a water soluble inorganic salt and (B) a wax, wherein the components are dissolved or dispersed in water, and wherein a solid concentration ratio (weight ratio) (B)/(A) is 0. 3∼1.5. and a method for producing a lubricative film, characterized in that a lubricative film is produced by applying the aqueous lubricant, preferably in a dried weight of 0.5∼40g/m 2 , on the surface of a metallic material, providing no chemical conversion layer thereon, followed by drying. The aqueous lubricant preferably further comprises (C) a metal salt of a fatty acid in a solid concentration ratio (C) /(A) of 0.01∼0.4. The water soluble inorganic salt (A) is preferably selected from among a sulfate, a silicate, a borate, a molybdate and a tungstate. The wax is preferably a synthetic wax which is dispersed in water and has a melting point of 70∼150°C. The metal salt of a fatty acid (C) is preferably obtained through reacting a saturated fatty acid having 12∼26 carbon atoms with a metal selected from among zinc, calcium, barium, aluminium, magnesium and lithium. The aqueous lubricant can be used for imparting excellent lubricity with ease to the surface of metal having no chemical conversion layer formed thereon.

A fibrous grease comprising a base oil and a fibrous diurea thickener comprising the reaction product of toluene diisocyanate, a fatty aliphatic amine and an alkylphenyl amine.
Abstract:
The object of the present invention is to provide a water-base lubricating fluid or a water-base hydraulic fluid in place of an oily liquid which has been used as a lubricating oil or a hydraulic oil applied onto the operating part of a machine and a device. The lubricating fluid of the present invention comprises fluoride ion, hydrogencarbonate ion, and water-soluble alcohols or their derivatives.
Abstract:
A grease composition comprising a lubricant base oil and a metal dithiocarbamate represented by the formula (1): wherein R 1 to R 4 may be the same or different and each stands for a hydrocarbon group having 10 to 20 carbon atoms, and X stands for a metal or a metal-containing group. The composition has long life even when used at a high temperature, is not harmful to humans and the environment, and can give an extended anti-flaking life to the rolling bearing.
Abstract:
A lubricant composition for the plastic working of metals that does not require a phosphate undercoating, is waterborne, requires only a simple application process of immersion or spraying followed by drying, and provides an excellent lubricating performance comprises synthetic resin, water-soluble inorganic salt, and water. The weight ratio of the content of salt to that of synthetic resin is from 0.25:1 to 9:1. This composition can also contain liquid and/or solid lubricating agent(s) and extreme pressure additive.
Abstract:
A lubricant composition for a surface treatment of a steel filament comprises at least one specified compound as a lubricant component and a rubber-steel filament composite body is prepared by using a steel filament treated with the lubricant composition.
