Abstract:
A method of data classification for use in a wireless communication system includes obtaining decoder metrics from a decoder. The decoder metrics correspond to data generated by the decoder. The decoder metrics include a symbol error rate (SER) and an energy metric (EM). The method also includes classifying the data into a first category if the data fails a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) check, into a second category if the data passes the CRC check and is determined to be unreliable, or into a third category if the data passes the CRC check and is determined to be reliable. A reliability of the data is determined based on the decoder metrics and an EM threshold.

Abstract:
Long time interleaver and listenable audio performance enhancements for a satellite receiver are presented. One enhancement includes comparing a correlation and a predetermined threshold value and blocking satellite signal data transmission from entry into long time interleaver (LTI) device circuitry and forward error correction (FEC) circuitry when the correlation value is the same as, or less than the predetermined threshold value. Another enhancement includes using Reed-Solomon codeword error checking to prevent erroneous baseband signal data from being accepted as good baseband signal data. A further enhancement includes storing symbol timing and frequency data during a strong signal condition of the satellite receiver and using this stored data when the satellite receiver encounters a weak signal condition. Another enhancement includes mitigating DC offset noise in a satellite receiver having a zero-IF tuner.

Abstract:
A user equipment (UE) operating in a wireless network receives a sequence of speech frames on a speech channel. The UE demodulates at least a portion of a speech frame of the sequence of received speech frames to produce a metric value. The UE discontinues processing of the speech frame and enters a low power discontinuous reception (DRX) mode if the metric value indicates absence of valid speech data, and ignores and does not demodulate at least the next remaining bursts of the speech frame after entering DRX mode.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to ACK-NACK detection in an LTE wireless communication system. To determine a threshold value for an ACK-NACK transmission, an SC-FDMA signal is received from user equipment. Then, a power estimate of soft data bits is used to establish a threshold value for determining the presence of an ACK-NACK signal. Using this threshold value, a signal from the user equipment is analyzed to determine if it contains an ACK or NACK transmission.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods for selective decoding of received code blocks are disclosed. An example method includes receiving a code block, determining a code block quality indicator for the received code block, and attempting to decode the received code block if the code block quality indicator is greater than or equal to a threshold. If the code block quality indicator is less than the threshold, the received code block is discarded without decoding attempts. The threshold may be a static or dynamic threshold.
Abstract:
A plurality error correction circuits connected with series includes a calculator circuit corrects the codeword when the determination results of a determining circuit indicate that the error correcting circuit at the present stage is to correct the codeword, and a determining circuit at a subsequent error correction apparatus determines whether the error correcting circuit at the subsequent stage is to correct the codeword when the determination results of the determining circuit indicate that the error correcting circuit at the present stage is not to correct the codeword.
Abstract:
Aspects relate to mitigating interference in a communication network that does not employ a centralized scheduler. A transmission sent on a subset of resources is evaluated to determine a number of communication pairs that have selected that subset of resources on which to transmit. If there are a large number of communication pairs transmitting on that subset, the transmission is ignored by a receiving device. The number of degrees of freedom that contain energy on the subset is evaluated to determine if an expected number of degrees of freedom that should have energy is met or exceeded. If the expected threshold number is met or exceed, the transmission is decoded by the receiving device, else the transmission is not decoded.
Abstract:
A transceiver apparatus, a receiver and a power saving method thereof are provided. The receiver includes an analog-to-digital converter, an equalizer, a slicer, a delay unit, a decoder, a select unit and a control unit. The analog-to-digital converter transforms a received signal into a digital signal. The equalizer adjusts the digital signal to generate an equalized signal. The slicer receives and slices the equalized signal and generates a sliced signal. The delay unit delays the sliced signal. The decoder determines whether to decode the equalized signal or not according the control signal. The select unit selects one of the output of the delayed sliced signal and the output of the decoder to be an output signal according to a second control signal. The control unit determines whether to enable the control signal and the second control signal according to the state of the sliced signal and the output signal.
