Abstract:
Embodiments of the present disclosure provide systems and methods for assembly of tubular joints which overcome the drawbacks and limitations of conventional joints. In certain embodiments, the tubular joints may comprise threaded joints used in oil exploration. Joints may be assembled using a combination of a) position control, b) specific production tolerances for thread parameters, and c) coatings applied on threaded areas of the joint. In further embodiments, the tubular joints may have no torque shoulder and/or metal to metal seals. In additional embodiments, the joints may be further assembled and disassembled several times without application of dope or grease and exhibit enhanced sealability. Beneficially, embodiments of the present disclosure may provide high tolerance, precisely assembled joints that provide improved performance (e.g., mechanical performance, sealability, corrosion resistance, lubrication) and reliability over non-premium connections without the expense associated with premium connections.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a lubricating oil composition for reducing a friction coefficient adjacent to the surface of being subjected to lubrication. In particular, the present invention provides nanoporous particles capable of being dispersed in a lubricating oil composition comprising base oil having a lubricant viscosity. Since the nanoporous particles having nano-sized, oil soluble pores according to the present invention reduces a friction coefficient, and in the long term, gradually releases an effective ingredient, the lubricating oil composition comprising the same of the present invention can act as a reducing agent for reducing friction for a long period of time, and thereby, exhibit excellent lubricant effects.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a non-hydroxide grease composition comprising a base oil and a thickener which comprises amorphous hydrophilic silicon oxide particles and one or more metal salts of different organic acids, wherein the silicon oxide particles have a BET specific surface area of at least 50 m 2 /g and wherein the amount of the metal salt(s) is 4- 25% by weight, based on the total weight of the grease composition. The present invention further relates to a method for manufacturing said grease composition and the use of said grease composition for lubricating a bearing and in couplings and gearings.
Abstract:
A metal glycol-based hydraulic fluid having vapor phase corrosion inhibition properties is disclosed. The hydraulic fluid can be used in food related applications.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to greases containing metal sulfonate thickeners. In one example the thickener may be a calcium sulfonate thickener. In other examples grease may contain a combination of a metal sulfonate thickener and another thickener, such as a metal complex soap grease, detergent, or non-soap thickener. The grease may be formulated to meet specific performance criteria relevant to lubrication of a roller cone drill bit in downhole conditions. The disclosure also relates to a roller cone drill bit containing a grease of the disclosure.
Abstract:
A system is provided for drilling a borehole into an earth formation, comprising a casing arranged in the borehole, a drill string extending through the interior of the casing to a lower end portion of the borehole, and a body of drilling fluid extending into the casing, the casing having an inner surface susceptible of wear due to frictional contact with an outer surface of the drill string during drilling of the borehole with the drill string. The system further comprises means for reducing wear of said inner surface of the casing, said means including at least one of a hardened layer at the inner surface of the casing, a friction-reducing layer at the outer surface of the drill string, and a lubricating compound contained in the body of drilling fluid.
Abstract:
The present invention aims to offer a lubricating composition with excellent heat resistance, mechanical stability, water resistance, corrosion resistance, load resistance and flame resistance. To this end the present invention suggests that from 2 to 68 % by weight of tricalcium phosphate relative to the total composition is added to a base oil, which may be a mineral oil and/or a synthetic oil. Surfactants are further added, and the whole is thoroughly mixed and kneaded to give a semi-solid lubricating composition. For the surfactants, non-ionic surfactants are most suitable, and fatty acid esters such as glycerine fatty acid esters, sorbitan fatty acid esters and sucrose fatty acid esters may be used. The amount used is from 0.2 to 18 % by weight relative to the total composition.
