Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for the synthesis of N-substituted cyclic alkylene ureas by reacting a multifunctional aliphatic amine A having at least two amino groups which may be primary or secondary, at least one of which is a primary amino group, -NH 2 , and at least one of which is a secondary amino group, >NH, the other hydrogen group whereof having been substituted by a hydrocarbyl group which in turn may be substituted by a hydroxyl group, or an amino group, or a carboxyl group, or a ketone carbonyl group, or a hydrazide or hydrazone group, or a mercaptan group, and at least one further functional group selected from the group consisting of primary or secondary amino groups and hydroxyl groups, and an aliphatic organic carbonate component C selected from the group consisting of dialkyl carbonates CD and of alkylene carbonates CA.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a process for the preparation of triazine carbamates by reacting a mixture of an aminotriazine A having at least two amino groups per molecule, an organic carbonate C, and a base B selected from the group consisting of alkoxides, and arylalkoxides of metals M, which may be alkali or earth alkali metals, and a solvent S which is a monohydric alcohol solvent R 2 OH or a mixture of solvents that comprises a monohydric alcohol R 2 OH, and a monohydric alcohol R 3 OH, or a mixture of solvents that comprises a monohydric alcohol R 2 OH with a further solvent selected from the group consisting of ether, alcohol, and hydrocarbon solvents, and adding to the products of the said reaction, an acid or a solution of an acid in a solvent.
Abstract:
A process of directly coating a metal substrate and curing the coating using radiation sources such as UV radiation having a wavelength of 200nm and above. Furthermore, compositions of the invention can be used as a tie-coat for coatings that do not bond well directly to various metal substrates.
Abstract:
This invention relates to coating compositions comprising at least one aminoplast crosslinker resin A, binder resins B that have active hydrogen functionality, and a catalyst composition C, wherein the catalyst composition C is a mixture of an organic sulfonic acid CI, and an amine C2 which may be primary, secondary, or tertiary, and which must have a pKa value of not more than 10, and preferably not less than 4, a process for the preparation thereof, and to a method of use thereof.
Abstract:
This invention relates to products H made by reaction of a cyclic alkyleneurea U, at least one multifunctional aldehyde A2, and at least one of (a) an aminoplast former M that is not the same as the cyclic alkyleneurea U, and (b) a monofunctional aldehyde A1, which product H is optionally etherified by reaction of at least a part of the hydroxyl groups formed by addition reaction of N—H groups and aldehyde groups, with an alcohol having from one to ten carbon atoms, and wherein glyoxal is present in the at least one multifunctional aldehyde A2, to processes for their preparation, and to a method of use thereof in coating compositions.
