Abstract:
An optical stimulation system includes a light source configured to produce light for optical stimulation; a light monitor; an optical lead coupled, or coupleable, to the light source and the light monitor; and a control module coupled, or coupleable, to the light source and the light monitor. The control module includes a memory, and a processor coupled to the memory and configured for receiving a request for verification or measurement of a light output value; in response to the request, receiving, from the light monitor, a measurement of light generated by the light source; and, based on the measurement, reporting a response to the request.
Abstract:
A medical drain sensor is provided located in a region of a drain tube which has turbulent or re-circulatory exudate flow. Means are provided in some embodiments to promote or enhance such flow.
Abstract:
In a surgical drain system formed with two or more branches, exudate flow from a patient's wound is directed between two branches with the respective filling and emptying times determined in order to identify the presence of a blockage in the drain.
Abstract:
Probenecid or a pharmaceutical acceptable salt thereof for use in the treatment of a neurological disorder in a subject in need thereof, wherein administration of probenecid or a pharmaceutical acceptable salt thereof controls clinical or electrographic seizures in the subject. Preferably, the neurological disorder is an epileptic disease, disorder or condition.
Abstract:
For applications in the fields of organic electronics and photonics, disclosed are fluorescent charge-transfer compounds emitting in the visible spectral range from blue to red, including a triarylamine moiety, an electron-withdrawing group and at least two photopolymerizable groups. Also disclosed is a method for manufacturing a film-forming and photo-crosslinkable composition including at least one compound of the invention and its use as a precursor of a photocrosslinked emissive layer.
Abstract:
A field-effect transistor comprising a stack of semiconductor materials, the upper face of the stack being covered with a passivation layer comprises two sub-layers: a first sub-layer extending over a second zone of low intensity comprising a first material with electric breakdown field Ecl1, the charge of the first sub-layer being strictly less than the charge of the upper face of the stack, a second sub-layer extending over a first zone of high intensity and covering the first sub-layer, the second sub-layer comprising a second material with electrical breakdown field Ecl2 strictly greater than Ecl1.
Abstract:
A device for transmitting and/or modulating in-phase and quadrature optical signals generated by an optical source. This device includes modulators each arranged for modulating intensity of optical signals depending on commands, and at least three main multi-mode interferometers set in series and arranged for transforming in combination a received optical signal with an initial phase state into a final optical signal with a final phase state differing from this initial phase state by an accumulated phase shift chosen from a group including 0, π/2, π and 3π/2 and depending from the intensity modulations carried out by the modulators.
Abstract:
Described herein are articles, systems, and methods relating to fuel cell systems that include anode chambers with variable volumes. The volume of the anode chamber may be relatively small or essentially zero upon start up to prevent influx of contaminants that would have to be purged from the system. As fuel is directed into the anode chamber, the chamber volume increases to accommodate the flow of fuel.
Abstract:
A method for separating electrically charged species contained in a solution by an isotachophoresis method applied in an electrophoresis device, the isotachophoresis method being coupled to isotopic measurement using a mass spectrometer. The method notably comprises a step of stopping the voltage applied to the terminal of the electrophoresis capillary and transient application of a counter-pressure making it possible to utilize the length of the capillary several times and extend the separation distance artificially.
