Abstract:
A clamp (100) for sanitary fittings includes a clamp body (110) formed of a first arcuate member (112) and a second arcuate member (114) movable about a hinge assembly (116) from an open configuration to a closed, latched configuration. The hinge assembly detachably couples the first arcuate member to the second arcuate member. The hinge assembly includes an arcuate finger (143) extending from an end of the first arcuate member, a pin receiving recess (144) formed within the arcuate finger (124), and a post (154) formed on an end of the second arcuate member. Upon assembly, the arcuate finger cradles around the post and the post fits within the pin receiving recess.
Abstract:
An orthopaedic brace, preferably a spinal brace, comprises a support member; a first elongate member supported by said support member and moveable in a first path; a second elongate member supported by said support member and moveable in a second path; and a movement transfer means arranged such that movement of said first elongate member in said first path causes said second elongate member to move in said second path.
Abstract:
A kit of parts for use in resectioning an end of a bone during orthopaedic surgery, comprising a cutting jig (12) and a alignment tool (10, 11), the cutting jig comprising a generally parallel pipedal member having a top face (20a) a bottom face and four side faces(20b, 20c), the bottom face being recessed in order to receive the end of the bone to be resectioned, means defining a plurality of slots (24, 25, 27, 29, 30) through the member (12) for receiving a cutting implement, a generally medial opening (33) extending from the . bottom face for receiving the alignment tool (10, 11) and having a shaped cross section whereby to mate with the alignment tool (10, 11) in a predetermined orientation, and a plurality of firing elements (31) in at least two side walls (20b) arranged to enable fixing the cutting jig (12) to the bone. The alignment tool comprises an elongate metal rod (10) and a separate alignment member (11) arranged to have a bore for receiving the rod and a flange (11a) provided on the main member and extending in opposite directions therefrom to facilitate fixing of the alignment member to the end of the bone to be resectioned. Preferably, the cutting jig is of plastics material in which case the slots are lined with metal.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for providing sanitized water in a bottled water dispenser uses a refrigeration system to cool the water and an ozone generating system to generate ozone for sanitizing the water. Ozone is generated and collected within an ozone generator housing. A blower transmits air to the housing, the air carrying the ozone through a flow line to an air diffuser that is positioned inside the reservoir of the water dispenser. A timer deactivates the refrigeration system and at about the same time activates the ozone generator and the blower. The blower continues to pump air for a selected time period after the ozone generator is shut down, the water in the reservoir having been sanitized. This action dispenses any ozone odor. The pump then shuts off and the refrigeration system resumes operation of cooling the water in the reservoir.
Abstract:
Improved methods, reagents, and kits for quantitation of HLA-DR and/or CD11b expression on peripheral blood cells are presented. Inclusion of a lysosomotropic amine, such as chloroquine, during staining stabilizes HLA-DR and CD11b expression. Use of a novel anti-CD14 conjugate, anti-CD14-PerCP/CY5.5, permits the ready discrimination of monocytes. The improved methods, reagents, and kits can be used to assess immune competence, and to direct and monitor immunostimulatory therapies in patients exhibiting monocyte deactivation.
Abstract:
An apparatus for a programmable self sanitizing water dispenser apparatus with a digital controller as well as a programmable method for generating ozone for cleaning the reservoir and the water contained within it. The apparatus includes an anti-spill receiver that houses the controller and that can contain a ozone generator.
Abstract:
The HELI-SHAT intake exhaust manifold system is comprised of a shaft (12) with two helical and parallel runners (13) cutout around its length. Surrounding the shaft is a sleeve (26) of the same length to enclose and separate the two runners. The intake runner has an opening at the front end of the shaft to provide an inlet for the air/fuel mixture to enter from the intake plenum. Exhaust gases exit the rear of the shaft through the exhaust opening; thus allowing the air/fuel mixture and exhaust gases to travel through the sleeved shaft following the runners in a parallel path. The shaft also provides locations for spark plugs (16) to be inserted. The sleeve contains port openings located over each intake and exhaust runner positioned to provide alignment during rotation with individual combustion chambers aligned in a row matching both the firing order and cycle timing of the engine.
