The invention concerns a powder drying system (1 ) comprising a carbon monoxide (CO) gas detection system adapted for detection of CO gas from smoldering powders in a powder drying system component, such as a spray dryer chamber (200), a fluid bed (500) or a bag filter (400), which CO gas detection system comprises at least one inlet CO gas detector (3) arranged on at least one gas inlet of a powder drying system component such as to provide at least one inlet CO gas content measurement, at least one outlet CO gas detector (3) arranged on at least one gas outlet of a powder drying system component such as to provide at least one outlet CO gas content measurement, and an analyzing unit (5) adapted for receiving the at least one inlet CO gas content measurement, receiving the at least one outlet CO gas content measurement and comparing the sum of the at least one inlet CO gas content measurement and the sum of the at least one outlet CO gas content measurement while compensating for dilution, mixing, and time delay of the outlet CO gas content measurement. At least the at least one outlet CO gas detector (3) comprises an IR laser transmitter and is adapted for detecting over a measurement volume (6) and is arranged on the at least one gas outlet in such a way that said measurement volume (6) extends directly inside a gas flow (20) in said at least one gas outlet.

The invention relates to a screw press apparatus (1) comprising an outer casing (2) surrounding a screening tube (6a) with a plurality of liquid discharge holes, a slurry inlet port (3) at one end of the screening tube and a solids discharge port(4) at an opposite end of the screening tube, the screening tube housing an axially located auger (5), the outer casing (2) having a first opening in fluid communication with the slurry inlet port (3), a second opening in fluid communication with the solids discharge port (4), and a third opening (8) in fluid communication with the liquid discharge holes of the screening tube (6), a cleaning device (20) located between the outer casing and the screening tube, a device (10) for axially moving the cleaning device. The cleaning device (20) has a rigid co-axial liquid supply pipe (30) having at least one washing pipe (21, 22, 23, 24) at least partially surrounding the screening tube (6), each at least one washing pipe (21, 22, 23, 24) containing a plurality of nozzles (211, 221, 231, 241) facing the screening tube (6a). The screw press apparatus is especially suited for processing protein containing slurries, and in another aspect the invention relates to a method of producing a gluten product using the screw press apparatus.

Disclosed is a process for production of a concentrated coffee product, comprising the steps of providing a coffee concentrate obtained from roast and ground coffee beans and adding spent coffee grounds having an average particles size of 0.1- 0 µm to the coffee concentrate. The concentrated coffee product findsuseful applications for spent coffee grounds, increasesthe yield of roast and ground coffee beans, makes it possible to design new properties, and/or improves thedigestive effect and/or mouth feel.

The spray dryer (1) has a drying chamber (2) with an opening (23) bordered by a rim (20) and a chamber roof (3) having a closing surface (30) facing the rim (20). The chamber roof (3) is movable between an open position and a closed position, and a seal (10) provided at the rim (20) of the drying chamber (2) seals against the closing surface (30) in the closed position. The rim (20) of the drying chamber (2) comprises a neck section (200) including a circumferential groove (25) facing the outwards radial direction, away from the opening (23) of the drying chamber (2). In the groove (25), a seal (10)is accommodated. The seal may be an O-ring seal (10).

Disclosed herein is a process for preparing a coffee extract, comprising the steps of: providing a mixture of roasted coffee beans and water, milling the mixture of roast coffee beans and water in a pressurised chamber, and separating the milled mixture in a liquid coffee extract and spent coffee grounds. The coffee extract maintains many of the flavour components of the roasted beans.

The air disperser (4) for a spray drying apparatus has an air inlet (81) leading to a space (45) defined within an inner radius and an outer radius in which a set of guide vanes (7) is positioned. A top, a bottom and an outer circumferential wall are defined, and an air outlet (82) at the inner radius is adapted to be positioned above a feed outlet from atomizing means. Each guide vane (7) has a pre-defined length in the radial direction. At least the bottom and outer wall of said space (45) are provided by a base module (5). The top is provided by a top plate (6) and the set of guide vanes (7) is releasably secured to a fixating device (10, 11) to form a framework, and the framework is secured relative to the base module (5) in the axial direction by the top plate (6).

The wall structure comprises a first wall (21) constituting an inner wall of the vessel and a second wall (22) positioned outside the first wall at a predefined distance from the first wall such that a space (24) is defined between the first wall and the second wall, and hammering device (30) is acting on the first wall (21). A predefined pressure is provided in the interior of the vessel, and substantially the same predefined pressure is provided in the space between the first wall and the second wall.

The air disperser (1) for a spray dryer is provided with a centre (3) having a longitudinal axis defining an axial direction (a) and a radial direction (r). A wall (4) defines a space together with the centre (3), and a plurality of guide vanes (5) is provided in the space. An adjustment device (6, 7, 8) is provided for adjustment of the angular position of the guide vanes (5) about an axis parallel to the radial direction (r), and the adjustment device includes remote operating means, which may include a lever (6) extending from a position outside a duct wall (2) through a part-circumferential slit (7) in the wall (2). The lever (6) may be adapted to be actuated to transfer a rotating movement about the radially extending axis to each of the guide vanes (5) by movement of the lever (6) in the slit (7).

The invention relates to a heating system comprising a heat pump system. The heat pump system comprises a heat pump, operating with a primary fluid, and a secondary fluid. The heat pump system further comprises a first sink heater. The heat pump is connected to the first sink heater, and the first sink heater is configured to preheat a process medium. The heating system further comprises a second sink heater configured to transfer heat to a second process medium. The heat pump system further comprises a heat exchanger that is connected to the second sink heater and is configured to transfer heat from an exhaust medium of the second sink heater to the secondary fluid used to provide heating to the process medium. The heat pump is connected to the heat exchanger in a parallel configuration. Furthermore, a method for integrating a heating system into a drying plant, the heating system comprising a heat pump system, is provided.
