Abstract: MANIFOLD UNIT AND ASSEMBLY, AND FLUID END ASSEMBLY A suction manifold unit for mounting on a pump fluid end in association with at least one further suction manifold unit to provide a suction manifold assembly for supplying fluid to suction cylinders of such a pump fluid end. The manifold unit has at least one supply duct leading to its interior, and outlet duct for leading fluid from the supply duct to a suction cylinder during use, and a supply conduit sealingly associated with the supply duct, the supply conduit being adjustable between a retracted position where it will be spaced from another manifold unit mounted relatively to such a pump fluid end, and an extended position for engaging sealingly with a corresponding supply duct of such a further manifold unit to place the manifold units in communication with each other.

Abstract: A high capacity continuous solid bowl centrifuge is disclosed having longitudinal vanes which cooperate with helical flights to form longitudinal channels. The longitudinal vanes may be curved vanes or they may be planar vanes disposed either radially or at an acute angle relative to a radius from the longitudinal axis of the centrifuge. In operation, the solids/liquid mixture fed into the centrifuge is separated, and the liquids move in a "plug-flow" manner in the longitudinal channels parallel to the axis of rotation, toward effluent discharge ports disposed at one end of the centrifuge. The separated heavier solids are moved by the flights toward the opposite end of the centrifuge where they exit through a solids discharge port.

Abstract: CABLE BREAK LOCATOR Method and apparatus for determining the location of a break in a pair of wires of a multi-wire cable are disclosed. The apparatus comprises means for shorting one wire of a given pair and all other wires in a cable to ground; an AC current source for connection across the wires of such a given pair to produce an AC voltage across such a given pair; a multiplier for multiplying the voltage produced across such a given pair by a second AC signal, which is in a quadrature phase relationship to the AC current source to form a product signal; and means for comparing the DC component of the product signal to a reference signal, said reference signal having a value which is inversely proportional to the capacitance of an unbroken pair. The comparison means preferably comprises a filter for extracting from the product signal the DC component; an analog-to-digital converter for digitizing the DC component of the product signal; and an arithmetic logic unit for comparing the digitized DC component of the product signal to the reference signal.

Abstract: A multi-channeled digital seismic field stacking system is disclosed for obtaining the composite response to a variable source array. A variable source array is synthesized by applying preselected weighting coefficients to the seismic signals produced in response to a selected number of surface energy impulses. The seismic signals produced by these impulses are amplified, multiplexed and digitized to obtain digital samples to which are applied the weighting coefficients. A digital multiplier is used to multiply each digital sample by a weighting coefficient to obtain a weighted digital sample. Each digital sample is multiplied by two weighting coefficients, a partial and a final. The partial weighted samples from each of the impulses are summed together to form a partial stack, while the final weighted samples are summed together to form a final stack. The variable source array which is synthesized covers two station intervals. At each station, the partial stack represents the first half of a variable source array, while the final stack represents a complete source array covering the two previous station intervals. At each station, the final stack is recorded on magnetic tape as a seismic field record, and the partial stack is transferred to the final stack for summation with the final weighted samples for the last half of the next variable source array.

Abstract: HIGH PRESSURE FLUID END BLOCK AND VALVE ASSEMBLY A fluid end block and valve assembly for a high pressure reciprocating pump. The assembly comprises a block member having a first passageway therein for operatively accommodating a reciprocating piston, the first passageway being in communication with a suction surface of the block member through a stepped counterbore configuration in the block member, a second passageway in the block member extending transversely from the first passageway to a discharge surface of the block member, a suction manifold removably mounted on the block member at the suction surface, a discharge manifold removably mounted on the block member at the discharge surface, the discharge manifold having a discharge channel to lead fluid being pumped from the second passageway to a discharge passage of the manifold, and having a stepped counterbore configuration in the dis charge channel. The assembly further includes a suction valve assembly removably clamped in position between the suction manifold and the block member, and a discharge valve assembly removably clamped in position between the discharge manifold and the block member, each valve assembly comprising an annular seat member, a valve keeper en gaged with the annular member, a valve plug housed within the assembly, and bias means to bias the valve plug into a closed position. Each annular seat member has a flow channel extending therethrough from a base face at one end to a seat face at the opposed end, and has an annular valve seat. Each valve plug has a seating face to cooperate with the annular valve seat, and has a stem. Each valve keeper has a guide to cooperate with the stem to guide movement of the valve plug, has an opening to promote fluid flow through the keeper, and has a stepped outer configuration provided by a body portion and a radially extending flange extending radially outwardly from the body portion to define a base seat which seats on the seat face of one annular seat member. The stepped outer configuration of each valve keeper is complementary to one stepped counterbore configuration for one valve assembly to be located in the stepped counterbore configuration of the block member and for the other valve assembly to be located in the stepped counterbore configuration of the discharge manifold with the base seat of each keeper being clamped between an annular surface in one counterbore configuration and the seat face of one annular seat member by the clamping action of the manifolds. Sealing means is provided between the block member and the valve assemblies, and between the valve assemblies and the manifolds.

Abstract: A seismic cable connector is provided for use with a dual fiber cable in a fiber optic seismic exploration system. The connector contains a digital transceiver which includes an optical detector connected to one fiber of the cable and a fiber optic transmitter connected to the other fiber. The digital transceiver is housed in an environmentally sealed case to protect the transceiver and the ends of the optical fibers from being affected or damaged during use in the field. The transceiver is activated by transistor-transistor logic contained within the connector. The optical fibers are protected by buffer tubes extending the length of the cable. A sixty-one pin electrical plug is provided in the cable connector for mating the connector with remote seismic data gathering units.

Abstract: A multistage volumetric feeder has a storage hopper for storing a mass of semi-flowable material, such as strand fiberglass, asbestos, or titanium dioxide. The material is bottom unloaded and passed through several stages of pressure reduction, aeration, and conditioning to loosen the material and place it in a state of substantially constant density. The conditioned material is further prevented from bridging and compacting as it is volumetrically delivered to a metering stage through a segregation stage. Because the semi-flowable material is placed in an uncompacted state of substantially constant density, the feeder is capable of delivering a precise mass of material over a wide range of flow rates.
