Abstract:
The present invention provides methods and systems an impact wrench having dynamically tuned drive components, such as an anvil/socket combination, and related methodology for dynamically tuning the drive components in view of inertia displacement, as well as stiffness between coupled components, and with regard to impact timing associated with clearance gaps between the component parts.
Abstract:
A centrifugal compressor system includes a centrifugal impeller; a shroud in cooperative engagement with the impeller; and a diffuser. The diffuser has a hub surface; a shroud surface; a plurality of diffuser vanes extending between the hub surface and the shroud surface; and a common splitter ring dssposed between the hub surface and the shroud surface and intersecting each of the diffuser vanes along a span of each of the diffuser vanes.

Abstract:
A shell and tube type heat exchanger is provided. The heat exchanger includes an elongated body defining therein a cavity that can receive a first fluid. An array of tubes having a first face and a second face can be configured within the cavity to direct a second fluid through the cavity. A bonnet can be functionally coupled to the array of tubes, the bonnet defining an interior region in fluidic communication with the array of tubes. A plate can be functionally coupled to the array of tubes, the plate defining a space in fluidic communication with the array of tubes. The bonnet can include one or more projections extending from an interior surface and into the interior region of the bonnet. The bonnet and plate are adaptable to define a first or second multi-pass flow pattern configuration of the second fluid within the array of tubes.
Abstract:
A hand-held power tool is provided that includes a housing assembly, an output spindle, and a motor endbell. The housing assembly supports an electric motor having a rotor configured to rotate when the electric motor is supplied with power. The output spindle protrudes from an output end of the housing assembly, and is functionally coupled to the rotor such that the output spindle rotates in response to a rotation of the rotor. The motor endbell is located on the housing assembly adjacent the electric motor and opposite the output spindle. An illustrative controller is operable to determine phases of a fastening operation in which the hand-held power tool is operating. The phases of the fastening operation of the hand-held power tool include two phases including: (1) a continuous run phase and (2) an impacting phase.
Abstract:
A hoist system includes a winch drum and an air motor coupled to the winch drum. The hoist system further includes a brake coupled to the winch drum and operable to stop rotation of the winch drum and an over-speed sensing device configured to sense a speed of the winch drum. The over-speed sensing device includes a pneumatic switch operable to disconnect an air supply from the air motor and engage the brake to stop rotation of the winch drum and a centrifugal clutch coupled to the winch drum and configured to rotate at a rotational speed proportional to the speed of the winch drum. The centrifugal clutch operates the pneumatic switch when the rotational speed of the centrifugal clutch reaches or exceeds a threshold rotational speed.
Abstract:
A working fluid case includes a housing and a breather device. The breather device includes a vent passage located in a recess formed in the housing. The present application relates to breather devices and more particularly, but not exclusively, to breather devices having provision for reducing ingress of foreign fluids or particles.
Abstract:
An apparatus is disclosed that includes a fluid inlet in fluid communication with a valve assembly, the valve assembly structured to selectively permit the flow of a motive fluid from the fluid inlet to a fluid driven motor, wherein the valve assembly further includes a first plunger including a plurality of axially extending fluid channels, wherein the plunger is selectively movable by an actuator in a manner such that as the plunger is displaced farther away from a closed position, the number of axially extending fluid channels placed in fluid communication with the fluid inlet increases, and wherein the axially extending fluid channels permit the flow of the motive fluid from the fluid inlet to the fluid driven motor.
Abstract:
Cordless power tools include a pistol housing having an upper portion that merges into a downwardly extending handle, a DC motor residing in the upper portion of the housing, the DC motor having a rotor that drives an output shaft; a torque transducer on board the tool in communication with the output shaft; and a dynamic motor control circuit residing in the housing in communication with the motor and torque transducer. The dynamic motor control circuit includes a Kelvin resistor in communication with the motor for measuring motor current and digital hall switches in communication with the motor for measuring motor speed. The motor current can vary by at least 100A during operation.
Abstract:
A refrigerant evaporator includes a shell having a refrigerant inlet and a refrigerant outlet, and a plurality of tubes disposed within the shell and carrying a process fluid. One embodiment includes at least a first plurality of the tubes are immersed in liquid refrigerant within the shell, and at least a second plurality of the tubes are partially immersed in liquid refrigerant and partially surrounded by gaseous refrigerant. The refrigerant evaporator also includes a baffle positioned adjacent the first plurality of tubes and immersed in the liquid refrigerant to displace the liquid refrigerant.
