Abstract: A spray nozzle comprising a nozzle body ( 110 ) having an air channel in fluid communication with an air supply, and directing air to one or more air openings ( 160 ) at an end of the nozzle body, and a liquid channel in fluid communication with a liquid supply and directing a liquid to a liquid outlet ( 150 ) of the nozzle body. An air cap ( 120 ) is disposed at the end of the nozzle body and has an orifice in fluid communication with the one or more than one air openings, the orifice is disposed about the outside of the liquid outlet. The spray nozzle also comprises an extension ( 170 ) placed on the liquid outlet, outlet protrudes beyond the surface of the air cap. The spray nozzle is well suited for use under windy conditions in that fouling of the nozzle is reduced or eliminated.

La zapata de freno para administracion de friccion comprendeuna placa de soporte que posee una pestana. Hay un recubrimiento del freno que está fijo a la placa de soporte y tiene una superficie de freno acoplable con lasuperficie de rodamiento de la rueda deun vehículo ferroviario. El recubrimiento del freno incluye un primer material de composicion de friccion formado almenos con un modificador solido de alto coeficiente de friccion y un modificador solido de muy alto coeficiente de friccion que establece un nivel de friccionnecesario entre la superficie de rodamiento de la rueda y la vía, para detener un tren. La zapata de freno también posee una pestana fija a la pestana de laplaca de soporte; dicha pestana cuenta con una superficie de friccionacoplable con la pestana de la rueda de un coche ferroviario. El elemento de pestanaincluye un segundo material de friccion formado con un modificador solido de bajo coeficiente de friccion que establece un nivel de friccion entre un 0,08 y0,15 en una interfaz entre la pestana de la rueda y la vía.

Abstract: A solid stick composition for use on steel surfaces that are in sliding or rolling-sliding contact. The solid stick composition comprises a vinyl ester resin, for example, from about 20 to about 80 weight percent vinyl ester resin, a solid lubricant, for example from about 0 to about 80 weight percent lubricant, and optionally a friction modifier, for example from about 0 to about 40% weight percent friction modifier, or a combination of a solid lubricant and a friction modifier. The solid stick comprises at least one of the lubricant or the friction modifier. A method of controlling friction between a metal surface and a second metal surface by applying the solid stick composition to one or more than one of the metal surfaces is also disclosed as well as a method of reducing lateral force in a rail system comprising applying the solid stick composition onto a wheel or rail surface.

The consumable applicator comprises a solid body having hardness of less than or equal 150 HB, a housing and a biasing member within said housing for advancing the consumable applicator toward a dispensing end. The consumable applicator may be used for applying a friction control consumable to sliding metallic parts such as the railway rails or wheels.

También se describe un método para controlar la fricción entre una superficie de metal y una segunda superficie de metal aplicando la composición de barra sólida a una o más de una de las superficies de metal, así como un método para reducir la fuerza lateral en un sistema de rieles que comprende aplicar la composición de barra sólida sobre una rueda o superficie de riel.
