Abstract:
A device and a method for measuring low-amplitude signals on a moving strip material. The strip material runs over a rotatable roller (10) which is provided with at least one measuring element (12) for picking up the low-amplitude signals which, before being sent to an auxiliary device, are amplified and/or processed by an electronic circuit (16) fastened to the roller. The method and device can be used to measure electrical charges on a moving strip material.
Abstract:
An electrolyzer outfit for percolation-treating a solution for a chemical reaction, such as the cathodic reduction of a metal cation, is described. This outfit includes, for example, a cathodically polarized particle bed (31), a plurality of anodically polarized counter-electrodes (33) arranged around the edge of the particle bed, and an additional anodically polarized counter-electrode (38) placed in the middle of said bed. This arrangement allows the electrode potential within the bed to be altered in order to prevent parasitic chemical reactions.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a device for performing an operation at a given pitch on a strip moving uniformly and continuously. The device comprises a first unit (1) fitted with a tool alternately describing a short section of an arc about a fixed horizontal axis (9) parallel to the axis of travel of the strip so that said tool can be caused to work periodically with a complementary component to said tool carried on a second unit (2), said first unit being connected to said second unit at said fixed axis, where both units thus secured and suspended from a fixed frame (20) are caused to move parallel to the axis of travel of said strip. Application to the perforation, cutting, embossing, notching and pricking of strips.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a multilayer product for colour photography. The product is comprised of, under one of the layers or under each blue-sensitive layer, an intermediary layer including non photosensitive tabular silver halogenide grains having a thickness comprised between 0.03 and 0.2 νm. Application to a product for colour photography with improved sensitivity.
Abstract:
The method involves applying a pressure close to the vapour tension of water to the mixture before remelting, said pressure corresponding to the temperature of said mixture. The device for implementing the method comprises a low pressure enclosure located upstream from the remelting device and in which a pressure close to the vapour tension of water is applied to the mixture, said pressure corresponding to the temperature of the mixture. The method and device can be used to separate air from photographic compositions.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a magnetic head suspension system. Said system comprises two sidepieces (1 and 2) surrounding the magnetic head and two spring strips (6 and 7), each of the strips being secured by two studs, whereby one secures the strip to the first sidepiece and the other secures the plate to the second sidepiece. Application: for high-density magnetic supports.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a magnetic recording medium which is comprised of magnetic particles and a binder. The binder is a highly cross-linked tridimensional polyurethane formed of a branched polyol including at least 8 % by mass of OH groups and having a molecular weight lower than 4000 and of an isocyanate prepolymer having at least 3 isocyanate functions. In one embodiment, the lubricant is polytetrafluoroethylene in powder form of which at least 90 % of the particles have a size lower than 3 νm and is present for less than 2 % by mass based on the mass of magnetic particles. Application to the production of a magnetic medium which is on the one hand hard and resistant and on the other hand coherent and little abrasive.
Abstract:
This invention concerns a process of treating particles which are unstable in air and the particles obtained which exhibit good corrosion resistance. The method consists in treating the metal particles by a current of gas containing silane and hydrogen in a fluidised bed. The particles may subsequently be subjected to a current of oxygen, preferably in the same fluidised bed, to obtain a coating of silica around the particles. The method is especially useful in obtaining particles of iron for magnetic recording materials which are suitable for dispersion and are corrosion-resistant.
Abstract:
A fluid distributor (2), in particular for a chromotographic apparatus with a large diameter to height ratio, comprises a separator (20) consisting of a disk of porous material, and a distributor plate (21) comprising, on its face in contact with the separator, annular channels (29 to 33) connected to an inlet or outlet duct by ducts (34 to 43) whose dimensions are calculated to introduce, during operation, a loss of head inversely proportional to the area of the corresponding channel, measured on the surface of the separator.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for preparing thin layers of iron oxide. This method consists in coating on a support a composition of iron oxide polymer prepared by controlled hydrolysis of a solution of iron alkoxide. The hydrolysis is controlled by progressively releasing water in a solution of iron alkoxide in a hydrophobic solvent, from reverse micelles comprising water and a surfactant. The invention applies to the preparation of thin layers for optical and/or magnetic recording.
