Abstract:
A receiving device for cooperation with an optical fiber is provided with a sensor (3). The sensor (3) comprises two or more distinct sensor elements (4a,...,4d) delivering an output signal with a strength that depends on the intensity applied to the sensor element (4a,...,4d). A greatest dimension (a) of the sensor element (4a,...,4d) is at most equal to half the diameter of a diffraction-limited spot (5) of the beam (2) exiting the optic fiber (1) at the location of the sensor elements (4a,...,4d). A diametrical dimension (c) of the part of the sensor (3) provided with sensor elements (4a,...,4d) is greater than the diameter of the beam (2) exiting from the optical fiber (1). Means (15) are present for determining the strength of the output signal from each sensor element (4a,...,4d).
Abstract:
A foam pit assembly includes a platform defining a foam pit opening and plurality of platform trampoline openings adjacent thereto. A plurality of platform trampolines extends across the platform trampoline openings. A framework assembly carries the platform and surrounds the foam pit opening defining a lower level thereof below the platform and above an underlying surface. First and second foam pit trampolines connect to the framework assembly and extend across the lower level of the foam pit opening. A wire rope run connects to the framework assembly and extends across the lower level of the foam pit opening, the wire rope run extending between, and connecting to, adjacent edges of the first and second foam pit trampolines.
Abstract:
The application relates to disinfectant formulations comprising calcium hydroxide and sodium hypochlorite and further relates to a method of manufacturing the disinfectant formulations and methods of disinfecting an object using the disinfectant formulations.
Abstract:
A method of acquiring data and performing calculations on the data using a provider service. A provider ticket service (PTS) receives tickets from one or more clients. Each ticket includes a calculation identifier and a payload. The calculation identifier identifies a calculation to be performed using information in the payload. The PTS associates a unique ticket identifier with each ticket. A ticket manager submits a selected ticket from the PTS to a provider host service (PHS), which determines which provider is to perform the calculation identified by the selected ticket by inspecting provider identification information in the selected ticket. The PHS launches a provider host thread (PHT) that invokes the provider determined to perform the calculation identified by the calculation identifier of the selected ticket. The provider performs the calculation and returns its result to the PHS, which passes the result back to the PTS, which returns the result to the requesting client.
Abstract:
A medical device introduction system and method can include a medical introducer, a separate imaging device, and/or a separate working channel device, each of which may be movable independent of the other. The medical introducer can include a handle and an elongate introducer tube extending from the handle and having a plurality of lumens, and may be inserted into an interior body region of a patient. The separate imaging device may be inserted through the handle and positioned in one of lumens. The separate working channel device can include an elongate working channel tube and a position controller. The working channel tube can include at least one lumen defining a working channel. The position controller can be configured to control positioning of the working channel tube. The working channel device may be removably connected to the handle and positioned in another lumen.
Abstract:
Compositions comprising clay minerals and methods for their use in promoting hemostasis are provided. The compositions comprise clay minerals such as bentonite, and facilitate blood clotting when applied to a hemorrhaging wound. Electrospun or electrosprayed materials ( e.g. bandages, micron beads, etc. ) which include clay minerals, and methods for the treatment of acute hemorrhage, are also provided.

Abstract:
The invention is directed to formation and use of electroprocessed collagen, including use as an extracellular matrix and, together with cells, its use in forming engineered tissue. The engineered tissue can include the synthetic manufacture of specific organs or tissues which may be implanted into a recipient. The electroprocessed collagen may also be combined with other molecules in order to deliver substances to the site of application or implantation of the electroprocessed collagen. The collagen or collagen/cell suspension is electrodeposited onto a substrate to form tissues and organs.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of preparing calcium carbonate coated calcium hydroxide particles by combining calcium hydroxide and dry ice in an acquiescent manner. The invention further relates to an apparatus for carrying out the method and to the use of the calcium carbonate coated calcium hydroxide particles of the method as filler for use with thermoplastics polymers.
Abstract:
Outputs of a laser and an inclinometer are used to figure adjustments to a sound producing device's position, where both the laser beam of the laser and an output from the inclinometer characterize a general direction of sound produced by the sound producing device. The laser beam can be one or more colors or patterns each characterizing the general direction of sound produced by the sound producing device. A stadium can have many speaker housings each including a speaker, the laser, and the inclinometer. Each speaker housing is mounted on, and remotely adjustable with respect to, an structural member as to the general direction of sound emitted from the speaker housing into the area for stadium seating. The inclinometer's output can be rendered by a monitor seen by an audio engineer who also uses the laser beam's direction to make adjustments to the position of the speaker housing relative to its structural member.
