Abstract: 671,385. Feeding sheets. MASON, J. A., and MOLINS MACHINE CO., Ltd. April 6, 1950 [April 8, 1949], No. 9627/49. Class 100 (i). An apparatus for feeding blanks comprises a suction device 1 rotatable beneath a pile of blanks 2 supported in a magazine 3 and which is adapted to engage the lowest blank of the pile and remove it by a movement substantially transverse to the outlet face of the pile, separating springs 7 forming stops which engage the outlet face of the pile at the outlet of the magazine, the springs having inturned ends which are located beneath the lowest blank, means 9 being provided to deflect the springs until the ends are clear of the blank to permit the blank to be removed from the pile and to permit the ends of the springs to spring back beneath the pile immediately the blank has passed beneath the springs 7. Double feed is thus prevented. The blanks 2 are supported in the magazine 3 by members 4 which engage each end and similar members 5 which engage the rear edge. The suction device 1 is recessed to clear the support 5. The outlet face of the pile of blanks in addition to being engaged by the springs 7 is also engaged by springs 6. Both sets of springs being adjustable and both engaging the piles of blanks through recesses in a plate 11 of the magazine. The springs 6 are flat and protrude slightly below the lowest blank to keep the blanks in correct superposed alignment. Both of the sets of springs are moved away from the pile by lugs 9 on the suction device 1 during its rotation so enabling the bottom sheet to be removed. The springs 7 are moved first because of their inturned end. Specification 377,807, [Group XV], is referred to.
