Abstract:
Method and system for automatically forming packaging boxes from a blank having a rectangular bottom panel and rectangular side and end panels and a rectangular top panel. Side and end panels of the blank are folded upwardly in a substantial vertical position and the top panel is gradually raised. A top panel folder is provided which is positioned at a top folder level above the level defined by the bottom panel. The top panel folder is displaced in a direction for folding the top panel into a position which is substantially parallel to the rectangular bottom panel.
Abstract:
Method and system for automatically forming packaging boxes and packaging an article therein, preferably simultaneously with the formation of said boxes. At least four folding units fold side and end panels of a blank upwardly. The four folding units comprise a front pair of folding units and a rear pair of folding units positioned upstream at a longitudinal distance from the front pair of folding units seen in conveying direction, and the folding units of the front pair and the folding units of the rear pair are positioned at a respective transverse distance from each other. Said longitudinal distance is adjustable during feeding of the custom sized blank into the supporting station, preferably by starting the displacement of the front pair of folding units towards the sealing station earlier than the displacement of the rear pair of folding units.
Abstract:
A method for communicating between applications on a network is provided. A first server (210) having associated applications and a second server (300) having associated applications are provided. The first and second servers are bridged (220) together with a bridge functionality having at least one subscriptio list. A message is sent from at least one of the associated applications on the first server to the first server. The message is sent to the associated applications on the first server subscribing to the message and to the bridge functionality. The message is added to the at least one subscription list. The message is sent to the second server and the associated applications on the second server that subscribe to the message. The brid functionality determines if the message is to be sent to the second server and the associated applications on the second server.
Abstract:
A mailing machine for franking mail items. The mailing machine has a franking section having a franking head, a feeder adapted to feed mail items from a mail stack to the franking section, a dynamic scale supporting the mail stack, and a processor connected to the franking section, the feeder and the dynamic scale. The dynamic scale measures the weight of the mail stack. The processor determines a weight difference of the mail stack corresponding to the weight of a mail item fed to the franking section.
Abstract:
A mail processing system includes one or more processing devices operative to perform executable operations. The system further includes or accesses numerous devices containing consumable items used therein. In the mail processing system, the operating speed of the system is calculated using one or more various profile techniques. The system also determines the remaining capacity or amount of the consumable in the system. Based on the computed operating speed, the system calculates a prediction term predicting the expiration of the corresponding consumable. From this prediction term, an estimated time to expire is computed to predict when the consumable will expire, thereby insuring any mailing projects may be timely completed.

Abstract:
A method of connecting a service provider to a franking machine. The method is provided having steps of : providing a franking machine at a first location, the franking machine having a communication interface; providing a server at a central location remote from the first location; connecting a cellular interface to the communication interface of the franking machine; and establishing a secure channel of communication between the cellular interface and the server.
Abstract:
A method of remotely accessing a meter includes issuing a meter identifier through a browser, utilizing an HTTP server to recognize the URL and run an application program, and reporting the results of running the application program to the browser.
Abstract:
A secure gateway includes a TLS server for authenticating connecting devices, a connection manager for routing requests from the TLS server to service provider adapters, and a key management system for providing key management functions, wherein when a device provides a manufacturing certificate to one or more servers of the gateway, servers identify the device as authentic by validating that the manufacturing certificate provided is signed by the same root that has signed the servers its own certificate.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided for enabling third parties, such as authorized vendors, to reconcile short-paid adjustment requests initiated by service providers such as, for example, the United States Postal Service, in response to customer non- or underpayment for services rendered. In an embodiment, a method includes the steps of storing a short-paid adjustment request from an initiator, identifying a source for the short-paid adjustment request, generating a request to a VBI meter system for a short-paid adjustment request based on the source identified, storing the VBI meter system response to the short-paid adjustment request, and generating a file to the initiator based on the VBI meter system response.
