    Abstract: AERIAL CABLE TERMINAL An aerial terminal has a housing divided into back and front compartments by a dividing wall which has a zig-zag formation from top to bottom. A top section of the dividing wall is set forward from a bottom section and a row of apertures is formed in each section. In a preformed arrangement the apertures are oblong and inclined towards each other in pairs, Terminals having shanks fitting in the apertures have transverse holes orientated by the apertures, to be also inclined towards each other in pairs. Shrouds surround the terminals and a channel in each shroud acts to guide a drop-wire conductor into the related terminal hole. The conductor is fastened by a screw in the front of the terminal. Conductors of a stub cable are attached to the rear portions of terminals extending into the back compartment, and the back compartment is filled with potting compound, which holds on a back cover. A front cover clips on to close the front compartment. A plurality of housings can be fastened together to provide an increased number of terminals.

    Abstract: TELEPHONE SET BASE FOR BOTH WALL AND DESK MOUNTING A telephone set base, for both wall and desk top mounting, has an elongate plastic molded base plate and a top housing. To improve stability a flat metal weight is positioned on the base plate and is spaced a small distance from the base plate to form an acoustic chamber. A speaker is mounted on the weight. A printed circuit board is mounted over the weight and modular jacks are attached to a flexible circuit member which connects to the printed circuit board, speaker, and other items. Recesses are formed in the base plate to provide for alternative arrangements of line cords and plug-in mounting on a wall. Slots in the base plate provide access to the recesses for cords entering at the ends of the base plate. A battery housing is provided.

    Abstract: MODULAR TELEPHONE CONNECTOR A modular telephone connector for use in providing connection of a telephone to both telephone lines and a separate power source, has a bottom member for fastening to a wall or other member at a required telephone position and a top assembly which attaches to the bottom member with a flat cable gripped between. On attachment of the top assembly to the bottom member, insulation piercing terminals pierce the cable and make contact with conductors in the cable. The top assembly includes a circuit board having conductor patterns to which the insulation piercing terminals are connected, and also to which are connected terminals from a modular jack, or jacks, mounted in the top assembly. A cover clips over top assembly and bottom member.

    Abstract: A compensator for CRT deflection yokes and the like comprises a housing shaped for connection with the deflection yoke, and at least one magnet rotatably mounted therein. Selective rotation of the magnet alters the electromagnetic field produced by the deflection yoke to alleviate distortion in the CRT display. A detented spring arrangement positively and releasably retains the magnet in a set, adjusted angular position in the housing.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing a telephone operating company with the ability to rapidly deploy advanced services into a public switched telephone network includes a programmable service node interacting with a programmable switch matrix. The call processing of a call (associated with one or more ports on the programmable switch matrix) is controlled externally when particular triggering criteria is met (i.e., the call requires or desires external control). When the triggering criteria is met, the service node outputs a new call event notification message over a communications link to an external unit and receives one or more messages over the same link. Call control processing is achieved through this high-speed communications link between the programmable switch matrix and the external unit using a communications protocol defining a comprehensive set of primitives (instructions) for call manipulation and control at the programmable switch matrix which are received by the programmable service node. The one or more received messages include instruction data for instructing the programmable switch matrix to perform one or more actions associated with the service call, such as connecting a port with another port within the switch matrix. The service node processes the instruction data and instructs the switch matrix to perform the appropriate action(s).
