Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for identifying media content are disclosed. In an example method, identifying data is encoded in media content portions and/or identifying data is extracted or collected from the media content portions prior to broadcast. The media content portions are then broadcast to consumers. When the media content portions are presented to the consumer, a metering device extracts identifying data from the media content portions. The identifying data may comprise encoded identifying data, signatures of the media content portions, and/or any other type of identifying data. The extracted identifying data is then compared to the identifying data that was encoded and/or generated prior to broadcast.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to adaptively gather audience information data are disclosed. The disclosed methods and apparatus monitor system factor(s) and select one or more sensors ( 12, 14, 16, 18, 20) from a plurality of sensors (12, 14, 16, 18, 20) positioned to gather audience measurement data based on the monitored factor(s). Thus, the disclosed methods and apparatus adapt to the conditions they face by selecting an amount and/or type of audience measurement data they gather.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to control a state of data collection devices are disclosed. An example method includes generating a level of engagement based on an analysis of an audience associated with a media exposure environment; and controlling a state of a data collection device based on the level of engagement.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to measure exposure to streaming media are described. An example method includes extracting metering data from media obtained from a media provider. Metadata identifying the media based on the extracted metering data is generated. The media is transcoded into a transport stream, the transport stream having a streaming format. The metadata is embedded in a timed text track accompanying the transport stream.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to count people appearing in an image (12) are disclosed. One disclosed method reduces objects appearing in a series of images to one or more blobs; for each individual image in a set of the images of the series of images, represents the one or more blobs (190); in the individual image by one or more symbols in a histogram (278); and analyzes the symbols appearing in the histogram to count the people in the image.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses the preparation of antimicrobial membranes by inclusion of low leaching, control release silver-based antimicrobial additives as described in claim 1 into the polymer matrix and forming this into a semipermeable membrane. The antimicrobial agents protect the membrane system against bacterial and/or algal decay and assist in maintaining a high efficiency of the membrane filtration process.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for cooperator installed meters are disclosed. An example method includes receiving audience information, configuring the audience meter based on the audience information, placing the audience meter in a sleep mode, and shipping the audience meter to a location associated with the audience information.
Abstract:
Example methods, apparatus, systems, and articles of manufacture to monitor consumer behavior associated with location-based web services are disclosed. A disclosed example method involves receiving a query from a mobile device including a query criterion and a first location identifier. A second location identifier is retrieved from a database that associates the second location identifier with an advertisement identifier indicative of an advertisement at a fixed location. The advertisement indicated by the advertisement identifier is credited as having been exposed to a user of the mobile device in response to the first location identifier matching the second location identifier or the first location identifier indicating a first location within a distance of a second location indicated by the second location identifier.
Abstract:
Example methods, apparatus, and articles of manufacture to collect metering information associated with media presented by portable and computer media presentation devices are disclosed. A disclosed example method accesses a first data structure including metering information generated by at least one of first media presentation software executed by a personal computer or second media presentation software executed by a portable media presentation device. The metering information is associated with media presented by at least one of the first or second media presentation software. At least some of the metering information is then extracted from the first data structure and stored in a second data structure. The at least some of the metering information is then communicated from the second data structure to a data collection facility.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for media source identification and time shifted media consumption measurements are disclosed. A disclosed method identifies a media source by generating first signature information based on media presented via a media delivery device and comprising the first signature information to second signature information. The second signature information is derived from a library of signature information local to the media delivery device. The disclosed method generates a collection of matching signature information based on the comparison of the first and second signature information, and identifies a source of the media presented via the media delivery device based on the collection of matching signature information.
