Abstract: A vertical buffer (1) straddles a horizontal conveyor which moves flat rectangular objects (6). Two parallel ladder type support shelves (25, 26) inside the frame (1) are raised and lowered by means of a gear motor (3) and two chain drives (11). Since the plates (6) overlap the conveyor belts on either side, the support shelves (25, 26) are able to lift the plates along two parallel edges. Photo cell sensors (31, 32), located above the conveyor and similar sensors (33, 34) to monitor the vertical buffer, supply the control box (35) with relevant data. Thus the conveyor and the buffer are coordinated in their movement.
