A control module is operatively coupled to each of the unit activation modules and configured to provide the unit activation control signals thereto. Abstract: The present invention provides a light source, method, computer-readable storage medium and computer program product for optimising one or more illumination characteristic thereof. In particular, the present invention provides a light source comprising four or more light-emitting elements, or groups or arrays thereof, each one of which having a respective predefined emission spectrum which, when combined in accordance with a given intensity ratio, provide illumination at a particular color temperature. This light source may comprise an internal and/or external selection module for selecting one or more illumination characteristics to be optimised, and internal and/or external computing module for optimising drive parameters of the light source to provide the optimised illumination characteristic selected. The light source may optionally be hardwired to operate according to predefined drive parameters selected, using a method, computer-readable storage medium and/or computer program product of the present invention, in order to optimise a pre-selected illumination characteristic.

Abstract: The present invention provides a lighting device package with one or more light-emitting elements operatively coupled to a substrate and a frame disposed at least in part around the one or more light-emitting elements. The frame and substrate define a cavity in which the one or more light-emitting elements are positioned, wherein this cavity can be substantially enclosed by an optically transmissive system. At least a portion of the cavity can be filled with an encapsulation material. The frame defines one or more passageways, wherein each passageway interconnects the cavity with the outside through an outside port. For example, the outside port can be accessible from the ambient when the lighting device package is in an assembled state, thereby enabling fluidic movement of the encapsulation material into and/or out of the cavity.

Abstract: A system and method for controlling lighting are described. In general, the system and method may be used for controlling generation of light from the one or more lighting devices within a lighting system, in response to an external input. The control system generally comprises a control interface module and a light generation module. The control interface module is configured to receive the external input and convert same in accordance with a predefined internal control protocol. The light generation module is communicatively linked to the control interface module to receive the converted input and is operatively linked to the one or more light-emitting element modules for controlling generation of light thereby in accordance with the converted input. In one example, the light generation module is either interchangeable or interchangeably adaptable to receive the external input in accordance with one of two or more control protocols.

Abstract: The present invention combines point light sources in combination with a light guide element and light redirecting elements into a system which can emit light across one or more extended surfaces of the light guide and may be designed to be able to emit light uniformly across the extended surfaces. The system comprises one or more light-emitting elements and a light guide in which are defined one or more voids. The light-emitting elements are optically coupled to the light guide by positioning them adjacent to a surface of the light guide, or by positioning them proximal to one or more of the voids. One or more light-emitting elements can be optically coupled to one void such that they emit light into the light guide substantially through that void and not through any other void of the one or more voids. Optically coupled to the light guide are a plurality of light redirecting elements for altering of the propagation of light through the light guide, thereby enabling light to be emitted from the surface of the light guide in a desired pattern, for example in a uniform illumination pattern.

Abstract: The present invention provides a modular panel lighting apparatus comprising a multi layer power board and one or more lighting modules. The power board is a compound structure of one or more electrically conductive layers which are separated by one or more electrically insulating layers. The power board is configured to receive one or more lighting modules and can provide electrical, mechanical and thermal function adequate to meet a desired functionality of the lighting apparatus. A lighting module comprises one or more light-emitting elements operatively attached to a connector element that has one or more electrical contact portions. By inserting the connector element into the power board, the lighting module can be mounted anywhere on the face of the power board. When appropriately inserted into the power board, the one or more electrical contact portions of the connector element can establish selective electrical contact with the conductive layers of the power board and can secure the lighting module in place.
