Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for encoding and decoding a channel in a communications system, and particularly, to a method and an apparatus for encoding and decoding a channel, in which various codeword sizes are generated from a structural low density parity check (LDPC) code when using an LDPC code in the communications system employing a high order modulation scheme. The present invention provides a method for obtaining a punctured pattern optimized by taking the high order modulation scheme into consideration when applying puncturing or shortening to provide various codeword lengths. After performing the shortening when the shortening is required, a parity inspection matrix is used to encode information data bits by a preset encoding scheme such that the LDPC codeword is generated and the optimized puncturing pattern is employed and transmitted when information data bits are inputted.

Abstract:
PURPOSE: A channel coding device and method are provided to form a structure raptor code having low coding complexity by designing a raptor code which transmits an information bit to the coded bit of an LT code. CONSTITUTION: A coded bit number counter(400) calculates the number of the output bits of a coded bit generating unit. The number of coded bits which are calculated is outputted to a coded bit degree distribution selector(410). The coded bit degree distribution selector selects optimal coded bit degree distribution based on the number of the coded bits which are inputted from the coded bit number counter and the coded rate of a beforehand code. A coded bit degree selector(420) determines the degree of the coded bit based on the degree distribution which is inputted from the coded bit degree distribution selector. A coded bit degree update unit(430) renews the coefficient of the degree distribution.
