PURPOSE: Electronic device and information detection method using the same are provided to avoid interference of a signal transmitted to a remote control device to affect a signal transmitted to an electronic device from a remote control device. CONSTITUTION: A reception unit (110) receives a data signal from a remote control device. A signal processing unit (130) signal processes the received data signal and converts the data signal into a pulse signal. A control unit (150) detects information included in the data signal based on time difference between start time points of a continuous pulse range in the pulse signal. The control unit detects information included in the data signal based on time difference between falling edges or rising edges of the pulse range. Abstract:

Abstract:
PURPOSE: A method for storing a DVD title is provided to first record a title name in a user data area while recording image information, and to automatically record user data including the title name on an HDD, thereby automatically displaying the title name for a stored program. CONSTITUTION: If a copying-key signal is supplied to a controller(S110), the controller stops a time shift function(S120), and starts a process for storing a reproduction signal of a DVD player in a long-term recording area of an HDD(S130). The controller decides whether information on a currently played DVD title is picked up from a disk information file area of a DVD(S140). If so, the controller records a DVD title name in the user data area, and records user data in a root directory area of the HDD(S150). If a key signal for stopping a copy process is inputted(S160), the controller stops the recording in the long-term recording area, and starts the recording for the time shift function in a temporary recording area(S170).
Abstract:
PURPOSE: A hard disk drive image recording/reproducing device capable of preventing initialization error from being generated and an initialization method thereof are provided to check whether an HDD initialization is completed, and to cut off power applied to the HDD if the initialization fails, then to power a system again to re-perform the initialization, thereby preventing a booting error from being generated in the system. CONSTITUTION: When a system is powered on(S10), an automatic system initialization is carried out(S20). Each configuration of a system is initialized in an order that power is applied. When the power is applied to an HDD(S30), the HDD performs a self initialization mode(S40). The system checks whether the initialization is completed while performing the self initialization mode of the HDD(S50). If the initialization fails at more than a predetermined frequency, a power controller controls a power supplier such that the power supplier can cut off the power applied to the HDD(S60). A main controller resets the system to re-power the system.

PURPOSE: An optical recorder capable of successively writing files at both surfaces of an optical recording medium is provided to write files at one surface of the optical recording medium and successively write residual files at the other surface of the optical recording medium. CONSTITUTION: An optical recorder capable of successively writing files at both surfaces of an optical recording medium includes a writing part writing files at the optical recording medium, a reading part reading data written at the optical recording medium, a storing part(24) storing a peculiar number of the optical recording medium, a detecting part(26) detecting residual memory capacity of the optical recording medium, a comparing part(27) comparing the residual memory capacity with the size of the files, a control part(25) controlling a writing operation of the writing part; wherein the control part aborts the writing operation of the writing part if the size of the file is larger than the residual memory capacity, compares the peculiar number of the loaded recording medium with the peculiar number stored at the storing part to determine reload of the recording medium, and resumes the writing operation if the recording medium was reloaded.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: A recording apparatus capable of changing an order of files being recorded and a recording method thereof are provided to prevent unnecessary waste of the end part of a DCD. CONSTITUTION: A DCD(Digital Convergence Disk) deck(24) records at least one file in a recording medium and reads the information recorded in the recording medium. A detecting unit(30) detects residual recording capacity of the recording medium based on the read information before the DCD deck executes recording operation. A comparing unit(32) compares the residual recording capacity with the whole size of the files. An input unit(34) inputs a selection command to select files smaller than the residual recording capacity. A control unit(22) changes a recording order of the DCD deck to record the selected files in the recording medium.

Abstract:
PURPOSE: A copy control apparatus and method of a video signal is to detect a copy protection signal and to interrupt recording operation, informing a user that a record carrier to be copied is a copy protected one, when the video signal with the copy protection signal inserted therein is recorded. CONSTITUTION: A copy control apparatus comprises: a video signal processing unit(203) for separating a composite synchronization signal from a video input signal to be recorded and for performing modulation and demodulation of the video signal; a determination unit(204) of presence/absence of a copy protection signal for receiving the composite synchronization signal and for determining if the copy protection signal is included therein; and a control unit(205) for generating a copy protection control signal to interrupt a recording execution mode, when the copy protection signal is determined to be included. Further, a copy control method comprise the steps of: determining if a copy command is inputted; comparing a time(T1) read from a timer with a threshold value(T0); determining whether the copy protection signal is detected from the video signal to be recorded, if the T1 is T0 or more; and interrupting a copy mode when the copy protection signal is detected.
